I don't know if this has been mentioned, jumped from page 40 to page 93, but Disney needs to kill
the RC DVC. That would be the one thing that would kill FW Campground. I'm sure Disney doesn't care,
but all of us who do stay there love the campground and adding a DVC would ruin the atmosphere of the
campground.

Aulani will probably be the last DVC that isn't attached to a theme park. DVC had trouble selling Hilton Head and Vero Beach and now Aulani. Haven't stayed at Vero or Aulani, but Hilton Head was a great resort.

All three are fantastic resorts, with better amenities and feel than arguably any of the park-based DVCs. I agree that Aulani will probably be the last non-park DVC resort, but it's a shame that Disney can offer so much less for so much more with the newer WDW DVCs, all of which rely on the amenities and allure of the attached resorts for their appeal.

The plans that leaked seemed to have little impact on the campground. They were not taking away camp sites but using the RC plot which is just abandoned land now. It will make the area more crowded, but there would also be more dining choices and maybe a nice lounge too. I never felt WL damaged the environment of the campground. I would think RC DVC wouldn't either.

The other problem they have is they need a year round destination. They looked at a site in the DC area for a while, but it would be hard to sell rooms in the winter.

I could see them maybe looking at the Caribbean as a potential spot. Build a resort near a cruise ship port so you can offer combo trips (land and sea) and also share the cost of amenities with DCL.

That would be a great idea. I've always wondered if Disney's considered using their leftover land on Castaway Cay (which is maybe 10% developed) for a DVC resort; I'd imagine it'd sell out instantly. Or if the logistics involved would be too difficult, maybe on Nassau over by Atlantis, or another Caribbean island serviced by DCL.

That is a great idea. I might even decide to cruise with Disney if that ever happened.

Yes, the DVC would use the RC land, but you would have to add a parking lot and the increased traffic would
effect the campgrounds. Also the plans called for moving the the Pioneer Hall to another area along the bay.
I, and others, feel that if these plans go ahead it's the first step in getting rid of the campgrounds. Which
would be a great loss. IMHO.

There was actually a talk about this in the DCL forum.
They claimed that the permit to use "CastAway Cay" to Disney, does not allow to build structures like DVC.

I didn't know that, but that was my first thought - that surely there must be some regulation or contract stipulation avoiding that very scenario, which would pretty much destroy the place.

Nevermind the island has to have everything brought in and taken out. There is nothing to do there except be stranded if the boat wasn't there. Nothing to support a population

Nevermind it's not cost effective to use the cruise ship to take people there and back... So why bother?

Put it on a bad location where you can do a real resort and shuttle people to the cruise port
