Imagineer Jer: You posted your question and got plenty of legitimate responses. Why are you complaining? The Studios will be going through a transformation in the coming years and the Sorcerer's Hat is part of the new plan.

What does a water tower have to do with MGM or better yet Disney? I don't see very many big hats around. I see water towers everywhere. A water tower seems un-Disneylike to me.

A water tower is an old movie studio icon. It made sense when the park opened, but if the theme is to change it kinda doesn't. I'll be sad to see TGMR go...another cool dark ride lost. Maybe they'll put some kind of a SCREAMIN' DISNEY COASTER!!!!! in it's place. If so it will be yet another ride I won't be experiencing.

In ther old studio days the water tower was a symbol of strength th a picticular studio as well an a becon as to its location. the water towers original purpos fit the studios well at that time.

I think they need to put snow globes over all their icons! Contemporary Resort, Dumbo, each individual doll in "it's a small world," heck, let's put a giant globe over the whole resort, with "Walt Disney World" on the top with a Mickey hand. It could be visible from space!

I think the HAT ruins the theming of the park if it were to stay. It is nice to be there for the celebration, but MGM is a themepark, and you are supposed to be in 1930s Hollywood, and a giant purple hat does not signify that.

And the studios name is DISNEY/MGM Studios...i cannot stand when disney trie to get rid of the MGM part....my family and I simply call it "MGM"

no.. the theming is that of a working production studio.... but I still hate the hat.

Why would the hat continue to say 100 YoM if its no longer the 100 YoM celebration? I'd imagine that even with the hat staying, the logo would change.
