Exactly. It is behind the scenes. This supports the theory that this is a 1930s set in the modern world...

The whole point is, the park is headeing to be strictly Disney, so the original theme is no longer the drive. At one time this was an active movie studio, it no longer is, and at the rate they are going, they may stop animation down there some day, so your are right about how the park was... but the hat is moving the park forward to a new direction. Just accept it. It's similar to what is happening at EPCOT. The EPCOT of the past s baasically gone and the EPCOT of the future has been slowly trickling in. We may or may not like it, but it is happening, so we need to accept it and just enjoy the park. As far as the giant hidden mickey at MGM, that has been altered for some time now, way before the hat, the hat just furthur destroys the Hidden mickey, but it was already messed up.
