The Sorcerer's Warmups Day 2 Reviews
BIG BEAR CREEK
A boat ride located on the outskirts of Grizzly Gulch that takes guests through the natural forest environment of the many majestic bears of all shapes and sizes that live there. Watch out for a gang of dangerous, criminal fur trappers that may require escaping down a waterfall and take us to a cave with a motherload of bears!
I always love a good, atmospheric boat ride! Seems like a great continuation of the land that could feel unique to it while still capturing classic Disney charm!
Grizzly Gulch Stampede
(I couldn't find an image that perfectly describes my answer, but this photo of Woody's Roundup from Shanghai Disneyland would do.)
For those hankerin' for a good ol' spinning time, the Grizzly Gulch Stampede is now open for your business! Updating the current Geyser Gulch water play area, this ride will have you howling for more as you whip and whirl around the corral n your own horse buggy while expecting a splashing surprise from the resident geyser.
Whips rides are always fun! I'm not really a fan of the static horses for the ride vehicles. It works well enough with the toys, but giving it a more realistic design I think would make the issues worse. But this is a great ride system and a fun way to round out the offerings here!
The Country Bears have arrived in Grizzly Gulch for a live performance - problem is, they've all run off to explore the area and the show starts in ten minutes, so Henry needs your help to find them all before showtime. This fun for the whole family dark ride sends guests all over Grizzly Gulch and the surrounding forest, where the iconic Country Bears have all gotten into the most amusing of situations, culminating in Big Al upsetting a hive full of bees who promptly chase us back to the Grizzly Gulch Opry House just in time for a musical finale!
Country Bears getting the dark ride treatment would be a really fun expansion to the land and a really cool idea! I could see this having a lot of strong gags in a fun atmosphere.
Grizzly Forest Patrol
Sheriff Maggie Sycamore has been hearing some rumors of criminal trappers hiding out in Grizzly Forest, so she could use a posse to help expose their deeds. Hop aboard a wagon in this dark ride adventure, using your lantern to cast a light on these outlaws and save the bears!
I like the idea of a more grounded and serious dark ride. This feels very classic Animal Kingdom and could add a lot to the park! A real different energy that could expand what people expect from Hong Kong Disneyland.
This is also a great example of using a reference photo in a project to set the atmosphere/tone you want. A picture says a thousand words. This picture establishes the mood for the ride before I even start reading it. No matter how big or small the project, never underestimate the power of visuals.
On this serene, winding trail through the woods of Grizzly Gulch, guests can experience the natural wonders of the area, with picturesque sights of the surrounding landscapes and a perfectly framed view of Big Grizzly Mountain. Guests with a keen eye may see relics of Grizzly Gulch’s history, such as Lucky the Golden Retriever peeking out from behind a tree, as long as they don’t get caught in the spray of the geysers just off of the trail!
I always love me a good walking trail and atmospheric attractions! This one might be a bit too small scale to really balance out the land though. It is a fantastic attraction! But balance with other rides is a key aspect of imagineering. This is an A-Ticket, a B-Ticket at most. The prompt recommended C or D. That being said, I do really love the idea of a nice, simple walkthrough that focuses on storytelling an landscapes!
Nature's Wonderland
大自然的仙境
Grizzly Gulch is the luckiest little town in the west, and while they struck gold and are surrounded by nature, Grizzly Mountain Run provides an exhilarating whirlwind tour through the canyons. In this C-Ticket auxiliary track, travel through colorful waterfalls, surrounded by playful animatronic bears, and into the canyons of exploration as you take in the atmosphere of this small northern California town.
I love Nature's Wonderland! This sounds like a great spiritual successor to it. Having it connected and intwined with the coaster was a really nice touch too!
Using this as another teachable moment kind of review, that connection to the coaster is a great "plus." Space is one of the best at finding ways to add plusses to his projects. I can definitely recommend everyone pays attention to Space's Plusses and his encouraging attitude.
Rainbow Caverns Tour
This dark ride will take guests through a tour of the mystical Rainbow Caverns, full of the fearsome critters from American Mythology, such as the jackalope and the teakettler. Guests are tasked to collect the gems with robotic arms without disrupting the peace of the creatures, a scoreboard is provided at the end of the ride to show who collected the most gems.
Rainbow Caverns has always been a big interest of mine! The interactive element is an interesting one, but I'm not sure how practical it is. I know Disneyland Imagineers experimented with this idea for the Atlantis Subs, but that was going to be an upcharge to manage crowds and even then was never much more than a vague concept. But if they could pull it off this would be a really fun and engaging and unique take on Rainbow Caverns!
Mineral Valley Railroad
A outdoor dark ride themed to a railway through a valley
Very solid idea. Outdoor dark rides are always fun and this wounds like a very solid spiritual succcessor to Nature's Wonderland. I'd like a little bit more. These projects are only one sentence so I don't expect a ton of details or anything. But something to put your own unique touch on it. What makes this project special? Sets the ride apart? One of the biggest things that sets armchair imagineers apart in games like these is how well they can express what makes them unique in a project to make it special.
