When we think about the classic WDW construction ladder, it has to be the red step ladder, but on occasion, there is a need for an extension ladder. Perhaps a rarer sighting... here we see a fine example atop of Walt Disney World Swan Reserve construction site sporting a nice shade of yellow.

Great photo! Yet it reminds me of a very dark chapter of ladder's history, back during its rebellious days before evolving into the true unsung hero we know today.

Back on Disneyland's opening day in 1955, one of the many problems facing the park's first official day of operations was an unexpected & uninvited influx of guests, which took a toll on staff, lines, food supply, and other pre-planned events with no expectation of such a large draw.

The main culprit was a large number of counterfeit tickets. But guess who else aided in the disruption by the uninvited...

"Even worse, Disneyland was overloaded with party crashers. The theme park expected a crowd of 15,000 people at the invitation-only opening, however, 28,154 passed through Disneyland’s gates thanks to counterfeit tickets. A few more even scaled a fence using a ladder erected by a makeshift entrepreneur who charged $5 a head
