The return of old characters

If it were truly for the 40th, then you'd expect to see 3 Little Pigs and Big Bad Wolf, Robin Hood and gang. . . they were the characters you saw back in the early 70s.

At least, that's what the photos of my childhood show.

That's not to say it wouldn't be great fun to see the relatively more recent obscure characters as well. :king:

My first character interaction was with Jaq and Gus in 1973.
I would love to see them out in the parks again instead of the Suzy & Perla.

I would like to see Meet the Robinsons out in the Parks. ;)

Seconded. Robinsons and Chicken Little were much better movies the they're given credit for. I'd love to see them get more visibility in the parks. There's no way for them to stay viable if Disney doesn't keep them out there.

Bolt too!!!

Lotso WAS at DHS but, is being replaced by Pooh & Friends since the new movie comes out next month. I used to love seeing the more obscure characters. I seem to remember Robin Hood & Maid Marion walking around when I was a kid. Actually have a pic with me and Brer Fox somewhere at my parents house! Hope this is true! My kids are actually big fans of the more obscure characters as well. BTW, what's up with the Roger Rabbit law-suit?

Brer Fox still shows up from time to time. In 2009, my wife and I got to ride the Aladdin Magic Carpets ride with him. :)

I agree with everyone, I would like the Meet 'n Greets to be a little less predictable than they currently are.

Jaq and Gus! Wow, it would be super cool to see them out with Cinderella for the 40th. :D

Thinking of Robin Hood characters, in addition to Robin Hood, there was the Sheriff of Nottingham, Friar Tuck, Prince John, Little John and Maid Marian. Now, 5 or 6 year ago you could still see Robin Hood and Friar Tuck out in the Magic Kingdom, but I remember reading on these boards that people gave no love to Friar Tuck - they didn't know who he was and/or didn't want a photo with him. That is the downside to bringing out obscure characters. Maid Marian hasn't been seen in ages, but I was fortunate to get a photo at the Disney Half Marathon in 2009 of Robin Hood, Prince John, Little John and the Sheriff of Nottingham. :D

Edit: This 2008 sighting might have been one of the last reported appearances of Friar Tuck: http://forums.wdwmagic.com/showpost.php?p=3228741&postcount=45 Hmm . . . I recognize that forum member.

No offense to characters like Chicken Little and Meet the Robinsons, or our forum members who would like to see them, but what do those characters have to do with the 40th Anniversary of the Magic Kingdom?

I'm about ready for Dreamfinder and Figment to roam M.K. and EPCOT.
I knew somebody would had to say that, because I want to see them, too! Every Figment fan wants Dreamfinder back!
The last time Dreamfinder was at Disney was for a D23 event. I heard reports that everyone at the event was screaming when he came on stage!
Lotso was axed about a month ago in favor of Pooh. :(

You can only see Lotso in Countdown to (No) Fun.
I was able to meet Lotso on my previous trip. My sister is a big Lotso fan, so of course she wanted to see him. The one at the meet and greet behaved better than the Countdown To Fun one. Countdown To Fun's Lotso was facing one side of the audience for too long instead of looking at both sides of the audience for a resonable amount of time because he couldn't let go of a crayon on the float he was on, while the meet and greet one petted everyone's head and gave them a hug whenever somebody came to take a photo.

I used to love it when I was younger and the characters (even random ones) were roaming the parks and you didn't have to wait at a set time or wait in a huge line to have a picture taken.

In the past few years the only pictures with characters I have are the ones who are scattered throughout the park or by the exits.

It'd be great if this happened, and not just because I'll actually be there for a week in October.

On a completely dead (crowd-wise) afternoon at Epcot in January, I did see some obscure characters out, including Gideon and, if I recall correctly, Needle Mouse. So they do send obscure ones out from time to time.

Gideon, Suzy, and Perla are used often for training as well as being in CADCT parade. Theres a good 100 characters that never see the light of day though, hopefully they tap into that group.

I had my picture w/ Friar Tuck in Sept. 2009. He was in the hallway outside of the Character Spot in Epcot. I couldn't believe it, he was just standing around, there was no line and really nobody really paid much attention to him. I on the other hand was so psyched!!! At the same time we got a M&G with one of the penguins from Mary Poppins. I had never seen Mr. Penguin out so it was a double score for me!!!

When was the last time anyone's (beside a parade) seen Max or The Three Little Pigs?

I know Max meets at DCA in California (or he did when I was out there in 07) and also have been doing meet and greets on the Disney Dream at times (at least 2 sets for 5 day cruise, not sure about the other two ships)

I would LOVE to have a bunch of the Disney Afternoon Gang out for meet and greets... there were a-lot of shows I LOVED and would go crazy over meeting and greeting!

Then there are those obscure villans like Izma :D

I think for the 40th anniversary, they need to have all the characters from each of the 50 major animated features meeting at official designated places around WDW... Like Lilo and Stitch at Polynesian, Cinderella in front of the castle, etc...
