I will recommend two books also. The first is American Gods by Neil Gaiman. It is a little thick, but it is a very quick read. It is about a guy, Shadow, who gets out of prison and gets approached by a man who wants him to travel with and work for him. It involves a lot of mythology. It basically comes down to gods from the old world battling gods from the new world, such as television and internet. Plus the book is set in a lot of tourist trap type places in America. The last is in Chattanooga, which is close to my heart considering I grew up right outside of Chattanooga. Gaiman wrote the book Stardust that is coming out in theaters this week.

Another book I will recommend is Good Omens by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett. It is a light hearted spin on the book of Revelations (if that is even possible). Basically the anti-Christ is switched at birth with another baby and is raised as a decent kid by a middle class family. Heaven and Hell have not realized that there was a switch and send mentors to the kid that they think is the anti-Christ to try and sway him to be good or evil. It is just a really funny book.

Both books are brillant i will also recommend never where by neil gaiman this bloke knows how's to write a good fantsy books.

A triple media whammy comin' atcha!

I recommend the book Life of Pi. A wonderful, can't-put-it-down novel that covers many interesting subjects. From philosophy to religion to zoology to survival, it is enthralling throughout. There are even some parts that will disturb you into not wanting to go to sleep at night (at least it happened for me). There's a great twist at the end as well. My favorite book.

I recommend the music of the Who. I was just recently turned on to the Who by a friend of mine who is obsessed with them. I am discovering how awesome they really are. They were such an innovative and creative band. It's a lot of fun to listen to them. You should. Start with "Who's next", it's the album with the most hits.

I recommend the movie Reign Over Me, which kind of goes along with the Who. I think Adam Sandler's greatest roles are the ones in which he plays a serious character, and Reign Over Me really delves into a lot of issues.

I recommend Radiohead's cd Ok Computer. I resisted listening to Radiohead for awhile, but this cd really made me a fan. This group has amazing talent, and in my opinion, it is their best cd both lyrically and instrumentally.

I am going to recommend the book wicked, i had heard people talking about this book for a while and wondered what the fuss was so i went out and picked up a cheap second hand copy and wow, i didn't put it down, its a must for all wizard of oz fans. I will say that a few of my friends say that it is a bit hard to read but i found it fine i give 4 out 5 stars.

I very much enjoyed the book Wicked! (and the musical was outstanding, a must see.) I would recommend any of the books by Gregory McGuire, he puts a fun twist on the old stories. Confessions of an Ugly Stepsister is also at the top of my list.

Movie recommendation:

Once - it is a brilliant little story about musicians in Ireland. I think the running time is 1 hr 30 min, but the music is outstanding, and the acting is perfect. It is still running in art theatres, but check it out once it hits DVD, or check out the soundtrack.

I recommend the movie Memento. I saw this movie two years ago and loved it. I'd heard a lot about it before I saw it and had high expectations for it. They were all met. It's about a man with severe short term memory loss who is trying to figure out why certain people are after him. It's a creative idea and even more creative cinematography. It blew my mind.

Likewise, I recommend the movie Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. It also has themes regarding memory and is also a very creative idea. Jim Carey does excellently in his serious role.

I'm going to recommend another Simon Green novel which came out a couple of months ago: "The Man With the Golden Torc." The main character works in the family business of keeping the world safe from the forces of evil. Find out what happens when it turns out that his family may be the most evil force in the world...

I am recommending Peter and the Starcatchers and it's sequel Peter and the Shadowthieves by Ridley Pearson and Dave Barry. I absolutely love when authors take classic fairytales and stories and sort of give you a different explanation of how it happened. In the first novel we find out how Peter actually becomes Peter Pan. I suppose they are intended for children/young adults but I think that any adult would find them just as enjoyable and magical. They are both fascinating reads.
