The Princess and The Frog

Super excited too. Basically ever since I heard that Ron Clements and John Musker were directing, I was sold. Considering they worked on The Little Mermaid and Aladdin, I think this movie has a great chance of becoming another Disney classic!

The trailer was so imaginative. Prince Naveen was hilarious - I can't wait to see more from his character!

And even this poster is amazing!
EPCOT Explorer - doesn't it make you think of Beauty and the Beast? Just as beautiful in my opinion and seems to me like Disney really can master 2D and 3D.

I had high hopes for this movie. Hopes that were dashed by the trailer. Honestly, I didn't laugh once. I chuckled when the prince's frog throat expanded, but other than that I found myself wishing I got the Toy Story 3 trailer before Up.

I'm worried, but still hoping they pull this one off.

Indeed! Now that you mention it...

The animation looks gorgeous though. I thought the trailer was funny, but I hope its not a comedy based movie and has more magic and drama like Beauty and the Beast.

Guys............RELAX. John L. is running WDA! Its gonna be ok! This movie is gonna rake in buckets of money. Its gonna revive hand drawn animation for a whole new generation.

I'm excited for this movie, but for myself I don't see it as pushing the envelope with new and groundbreaking animation which is something that Disney has always tried to do.

It looks as if they took the styles from Little Mermaid, Lion King, Aladdin and Beauty and the Beast and slapped them together to create something that no one will be able to complain about. I just don't see a individualized style in the artwork. If you compare any of the original princess lot such as Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, etc....they all had a distinctive look that couldn't be identified with the others. I don't see that here.

I hope the films does great though...don't think that my opinion of the art direction has any bearing on my excitement for the film. It will do very well and will hopefully be the starting point for a 2D revival.

SirGoofy- Have you seen these advanced reviews? WARNING SPOILERS!! Apparently they screened some of the unfinished footage and it was a huge hit judging from these guys.
I thought the trailer was delightful and I was glad that they didn't reveal too much of the plot/jokes. There is plenty of time in the coming months for more clips to come out. I have high hopes.

I'm very interested to hear more about Ray and Louis- (from the review)
The talking animals in this one are fantastic as well. Ray is a heart-of-gold firefly that joins the crew after they get a bit lost. Louis is a croc with dreams of playing jazz. Each is hilarious and pretty well rounded, and both will certainly capture the audience's heart.

imagineer boy -- Sounds like this film is going to usher in a whole new kind of Princess, much more strong/independent! She sounds like a great addition to the Disney line-up if you ask me!

and clarksfan95 -- in case you are wary of the spoilers, the second reviewer says the following re: the animation

First, I Loved the movie, in fact I think it's one of the best animated movies Disney has ever made. I enjoy the 3D stuff but 2D just has a certain feeling to it. Even though most the movie wasn't finished being colored the few parts we saw looked beautiful. Can't wait to see what it looks like finished.

I hope those reviews eased worries. I for one am sold!

I read the early reviews and I must say that I'm now getting very excited! I really do hope this movie will usher in a new era of not just Disney animation, but animation in general. So we'll have no more of the constant slew of pop-culture, fart/burp joke filled crappy Pixar wannabe CGI movies.

The family had a front-bumper license plate, they talked about going to "the Lake" (what lake? the one that's been closed to the public for decades?),

There is a lake in New Orleans. Four technically. Lake Pontchartrain (Huge lake to the north), Lake Borgne, Lake St. Catherine, and Lake Maurpas (though that's technically west of New Orleans). They aren't closed to the public. Perhaps you're thinking about the Pontchartrain Amusement park that used to be on the shore of Lake Pontchartrain. It closed in the sixties or so I think.

They don't really have "cabins" on the lake though. More like fishing camps up near camps over in New Orleans East.

But yeah, it's funny to see how wrong films show locations, and accents, in New Orleans to be.

I was born and raised in NOLA until I relocated after Katrina, btw.

Anyway, just saw the HD trailer over at apple.com and the 2-D animation looks fantastic. Looking forward to seeing this one.

Seeing as how we are all so excited for the 2D animation, I thought you guys would appreciate this video. Lasseter, Clements, Musker and the animators all sound so excited about the film! It really is a wonderful art form.
