There were not Cannon balls that flew over your head just Like King Louie was not in JC...

So..I am really looking forward to you proving us all wrong with your home movies..

I want to thank you for bringing this thread back and again, having insults thrown at me..

I just got back from WDW yesterday.. and rode the previous mentioned ride..

and no.. King Louie is no longer part of this ride..

however.. BTMRR was NOT around in 1971 either.. nor was King Louie a part of the ride..

but the next I will hear is that on Pirates of the Caribbean there weren't "cannon balls" that flew over your head..

or that the water ride at Norway never really the boat come out of the cave..

or that there never was a show at the Diamond Horseshoe..

I will say that some one had sent me a message saying that it was possibly another ride.. but I don't have that message available to me right now..

however.. within the next few months, I will be going through our home movies from this time, and will try to find this situation that I originally posted.. and will try to post a youtube..

but again.. thank you for digging this up, and for slinging more dirt at me.. for no good reason other then to cause a problem..

According to Disney, he never was

Anyway... I don't think people are trying to attack you personally. I've been in your shoes plenty of times, where I swore up and down that something was one way, and I was proven wrong... and my acquaintances never let me forget it :ROFLOL:

now, in fairness, the cannons thunder and there is a splash to suggest a cannonball has flown over one's head. :lookaroun Or was that a big catfish jumping? The next thing you know, people will say there were no big catfish in the water between the fort and the pirate ship. :hammer:

to the OP - congrats on a happy WDW vacation. Don't take personally or literally what is said back and forth here. Look for the humor . . .

No cannonballs, but disney does have a kind of air shooter that gives you that sensation if you are lucky enough to feel it. Scared the junk out of me last may.

Also, I used to think that spaceship earth and Horizons were one and the same. I rode horizons when I was 8 and my next trip when I was 33 I didn't know that horizons was gone and confused spaceship earth with it.

I was very disappointed as was my wife who was all prepared for a horizon's type of experience and got a spaceship earth experience instead.

You know there were other rides in other parks that were just like the Jungle Cruise. Here are pics of a Jungle Cruise type ride that lived at Astroworld from 1969 - 1983. Maybe you are thinking of anouther park?

Since we are relying on memory:

I was 6 years old when my family moved to Orlando area in 1970. One year later the Magic Kingdom opened. We went two weeks after opening because my Dad was afraid of the crowds:

No big tree near the entrance ( only the liberty tree. My sister and I were picked as son and daughter of liberty and my parents forgot the camera LOL)

No King Louie on JC although our guide said of the ape with the gun at his head "He must be related to King Louie". THen the Shirley Temple Gag but no rocks falling or anything. I was a wide eyed 7 year old taking everything in. Our family continued the tradition of returning every year with friends and relatives and never saw King Louie on JC. Only had a pic with him as a walk around in the park a few years later. Also only big tree was the Liberty Tree.

There is a Youtube video of the front entrance at opening and you can see it is pretty much treeless because most of the planted foliage was pretty young.

Since I am a Disney fan/CM and have been in Orlando longer than WDW thought that might help.

Memories can be funny things. I have a WDW memory that I am sure never happened, where when I was six we were exploring MGM Studios, and I was sure I remembered finding something that advertised a future attraction based on the show Eureka's Castle.

Since then I learned that Eureka's Castle was a Nickelodeon show, and if an attraction had been made at that time, it would have been made at Universal Studios, not Disney. So...I can understand where the Original Poster is coming from. memories can forge strong images in the brain.

Wow, this thread has really been something.

Note to self: Lee and Martin are no longer credible sources of information. ;)

Read the dates please...

ENOUGH ALREADY..

I DID NOT BRING THIS THREAD BACK UP..

SOME OTHER FOOL DID..

I STATED THAT PREVIOUSLY SOME ONE ELSE SENT ME A PM THAT SUGGESTED I WAS THINKING OF A DIFFERENT RIDE..

and that may very WELL BE THE CASE..

it is however NOT BTMRR...

BUT KNOCK IT OFF ALREADY..

You want to do the group kick.. well that's fine.. you got some one down on the ground and now you can kick them in the groin because ONE YOU HAVE A GROUP TO DEFEND YOU .. and two.. he is on the ground..

well bully for you..

but meet me in a fair fight or kick me for something that I recently said.. NOT SOMETHING THAT WAS DISCUSSED OVER A YEAR AGO..

otherwise.. I would be happy to have the moderators look this thread over..

I didn't start anything.. some one else did..

enough..

I sent an email to the owner of the site..

I want you to all know that I have sent an email to the owner of this site. .

if you actually really read this thread, I suffered a major loss when this thread was first written..

and the wounds are still very deep.

I do not want to be the blunt of anyone's joke here..

and I did not bring this thread back to life..

but I am asking for action to be taken..

I'm sorry for your loss.

It has been, however, enjoyable to read of peoples memory of what the different parks entailed. It seems that most people have a much fonder memory of things than what the reality was.

I think for that reason someone brought this thread back to life, not to intend harmful or hurtful things to another poster.

disney has many many myths and mysteries that we all like to listen to and get to the bottom of.

I understand that you are upset..and hopefully the mods will close the thread and it will not be brought up again..

My suggestion to you is to try and not let what is said here get to you personally..I know from experince it does nothing but upset you..and you only.

You will always have people bumping old threads for no reason, people will always disagree with you, argue with you, some people are nice, some are rude and flat out mean but the best thing to do is just let it go.

I am sorry you got hurt by this..or mad or both.

I have made a joke in here of someones signature..and I have posted to you that you were wrong and that there was never King Louie in JC..I am sorry if one of my posts bothered you or made you upset.

Just realize that this is only a Disney board..and that you do not know or will probably never see these people again and it is better to just brush off the rude ugly comments and let it go...and again..I speak from experience.

Though I do hope that it is closed because it has upset you..and for that I apologize.
