Trip Report THE ONE WITH A FEW MAGICIANS IN AUGUST 🤡COMPLETE🤡

Hello again.
I have another trip booked in less than three weeks so I need to power through this. So let’s go.....

In my last TR you all convinced me to take a side trip to WDW after dropping my son off at school. I was on the fence until one poster (I am too lazy to look it up) said they would never pass up an opportunity to visit WDW. I agree.

Not too long after that we had a big family get together and I asked if anyone wanted to drive down to Florida with X and I then go to WDW with me for a couple days. My 16YO nephew said yes but he is kind of a nervous type so I did not take him seriously. A few days later his mother, my SIL said, “you know J was serious right?”

I went on DVC and booked a room immediately. I could not believe my luck when I got a 1BR at Boardwalk. I have been trying for 12 years to stay there. Yay!!!

THEN my SIL, also being the nervous type, said she would go too. WHAT???
She was just there at Christmas and she is going with me in September for food and wine. This is way out of character for her.

THEN my youngest, Dre, decides he wants to go. Wait. We are not all going to fit in X’s
truck.

SIL suggests she fly down with the boys and meet me at Disney. That is what we did. Let me tell you about it......

TUESDAY 8/27 cont

We left Hollywood studios after Indiana (yawn) Jones.

It was such a beautiful 100 degree day for a walk.

We did beat the boat back if anyone is wondering.

Once back it was pool and beers. The pool was empty so I took advantage of the creepy clown slide over and over and over until Dre and J came and ruined my fun.

Then the strangest thing happened. It got cold. A really cold wind began. So SIL and I jumped in the hot tub. Just for a few minutes

Then back to the room to shower and dress for Epcot.
Remember that bottle of prosecco I rescued from the ants back in Boca? We had yet to drink it. It was now or not now.

SIL likes a little cranberry juice in hers.

See those two cups in the foreground? I told SIL I was going to make us a little “to go” drink. Little did she know, I made us a BIG “to go” cup

Besides the yogurt I don't see anything wrong with this breakfast! Looks like the breakfast of champions to me.

We werent in the room enough to finish them so I had to think outside the box.

I don't see myself at WDW with any of my two SsIL! We were together in Las Vegas once for a family reunion. Never again!

Sorry I'm so late to the party. Got my son off to Savannah finally after Dorian, turned around and flew to Sacramento 24 hours later for my daughters wedding shower, and now finally get to treat myself by reading all 16 pages of your trip report in one sitting! Phew!
It's been a great read, and looking forward to hearing about the rest of your adventures!

MONDAY 8/26 cont

We emerged from CoP and it was pouring. And it wasnt going to stop. What to do? We only had tonight for MK so we needed to press on. I had bought dollar store ponchos for everyone and had distributed them that morning. Each if us was responsible for our own poncho.
Ponchos on!
“Ummmm, Mom. I took mine out of my bag when we went swimming and I left it back in the room.”
“Really???!!! Is it next to your toothburush? Oh wait, that’s at home!”

Out into the rain we went. Dre was poncholess.
We headed to Pirates.

When we came out it was still pouring. We went into Pecos Bill and mobile ordered. Dre got a burger and I got my usual kids carnitas rice bowl.

Too much sour cream
The boys found a table while SIL and I got the food. It was packed in there, mostly with people just trying to get out if the rain, not eating.

After we ate we headed to Haunted Mansion.
It was pouring. Did I say that? Here are some pix for proof.

This is a random person who I do not know but I think she will forgive me for taking and sharing this hilarious picture. She was making rain(?) angels. Puddle(?) angels.

We stood here for a few minutes while Dre ran into the store to get a poncho, WITH HIS OWN MONEY.

There were a huge amount of people under the awnings of HM but they were just milling about trying to stay dry. They looked like a huge line but it was a walk on. Why they didnt just go on the HM is a mystery to me!

While in the stretching room a CM snuck over and stood super close to SIL just to the side of her and stared her down. My SIL turned, saw her, screamed and grabbed me. It was pretty funny.

I told them there was a photo but clearly I had no idea where it was. I told Dre it was in the beginning. “No, it’s at the end.” “No, it is somewhere in the beginning, just hold the pose.”

After we finished there were CM’s standing by the wheelchair entrance, which is in the hallway just before you go outside. The door was open and they were inviting guests to take the wheelchair entrance to reride so we wouldnt have to go outside and get wet. I thought that was way cool of them!! But we didnt take them up on it. We wanted to go to Small World. Well, some of us did

I would not have thought it that odd, with all the construction going on. But the CM kept insisting it was just a firewall even though we could see it wasn't. Very suspicious.

Tuesday 8/27 cont

We took our cups and started walking to Epcot. Dre was wearing a shirt from school and a man stopped us and asked where we were from. They live two blocks from us!! It’s a small world after all
It was a mom a dad and their son, perhaps 12, in a wheelchair. They had checked out and were killing time before their flight. They mentioned the son had gotten sick on the trip. I felt so bad for him. We talked schools but the boy went to the private school down the street while my kids go to public school. I was trying to figure out the logistics of the wheelchair in the boy’s school. I have been in there many times and it is all stairs and I have never seen an elevator. As I am going through the blue print of the school in my head the boy jumps out if the wheelchair and starts fiddling around with something on the back. Wait!?! What!?!

We continued on, cups in hand.

The security oficers were great! (Maybe that is the prosecco talking) We were talking DVC points. 2 of them were DVC members. One of them had 650 points! 650 across three resorts. He said he uses the points to cruise. When we bought in we were told by our sales rep that using points on the cruise was not a good value. Unless you use them for the first (and second?) most expensive guest and pay cash for the others. That is a lot of points!

We weren't even thinking and walked right in with our to go cups. Ooops. Mine was practically empty anyway.

First stop! It had recently become my thing where I stop for a Moosehead in Canada when entering World Showcase.
But first, Max er @amjt660 , are you home??? He never is

There it is. I have been trying to find Moosehead locally without luck. BIL is in the beer business so I have him on it.

Dre had been craving poutine. Not sure why. I don’t recall him ever having poutine.

It was ok. The curds were a little big for my taste. The gravy a bit too sour. The boys devoured it just the same

Then on to Soarin. It’s my SIL’s favorite.

There were people in front of us. Perhaps 4 of them. Maybe 6. When we entered they kept on going. At first I thought they were confused or didn't speak english and thought they could pick any seat. I assumed they would be back but in the meanwhile we took their more desirable, closer to the middle seats and left the end seats empty for them if they came back. You snooze you lose!

They did not come back but the CM did. “I know I had more people in this row.” I told her they kept on going and she went off in search of them.

It is hard to see but there is a metal Mickey head there. New topiary coming soon???
