What about links to the article you're referencing? :(
Ok... as a few people are (seems to me) annoyed over my news posts,
Would you like to vote...

Who would like, me to post, the whole news artcles...

Who would like, me to post just the links to that posts...

Who would like, me to stop posting Hurricane news anyway...

I hate that you had to cancel your trip, but I understand the worry.

If you can wait a little longer, the first two weeks of Dec are wonderful times to visit. The crowds are fairly light and the Christmas decor and events are in full swing. We've been the last two years and it was great!

Good luck!
We are tossing different things around, like thanksgiving and such. But I did not think of that time :)

Here's a question for you guys and gals out there -- if Ivan does actually hit Florida, it will be the 4th tropical system to make landfall in the state this year (Bonnie, Charley, Frances & Ivan.) Has that ever happened before in one season?
Okay, I'll answer my own question. The last time there were four named storms to hit Florida in one season was in 1995.

The 1995 Atlantic Hurricane season was the second most active season on record, and the most active in sixty-two years. Ninteen named storms formed that year, second only to the twenty-one that formed in 1933. There were eleven hurricanes, again the second-most hurricanes in one season.

1995 Named Storms Landfalling in Florida

Date -- Storm Name -- Landfall
June 3 -- Hurricane Allison -- Pensacola, FL
Aug 1 -- Hurricane Erin -- Vero Beach, FL*
Aug 23 -- Tropical Storm Jerry -- Jupiter, FL
Oct 3 -- Hurricane Opal -- Pensacola Beach, FL

*also made a 2nd landfall on Aug 3 at Ft. Walton Beach, FL

So there you go, in case you were wondering.

I just got negative points (of course no name was left - wussy) about the comment I made about the Weather Channel reporter saying it was good news that, at the time, Ivan was not heading Florida's way. I just said that it was not a good statement to make. He could have clarified it as "Good News for Florida, but watch out Grenada and . . ."

Of course this all may be moot since the latest reports have the storm heading to Florida again.

Anywho, looks like they moved the DOlphins game to Saturday. Times like these reduce sports to nothing more than a diversion. Safety is of the paramount response.

Once again prayers to all in Ivan's path.

I got neg rep too....no name left (probably from the type of person that sucker-punches people, shoots a man in the back, hits women....) The funny thing is that they are so new, or have a poor rep, or both, so it did not take away any of my points......rather amuseing :D

Just canceled my trip.

I just canceled my plane ticket (leaving Sept 18) and FrenchQuarter reservations... I'm so sad. :( :zipit:

Maybe considering going in Feb... Anything exciting happening at Disney in Feb? Is there anything with Valentines?

I bought the Anual Pass at the Disney store this summer. They haven't been used yet. Is there any restrictions how long I can wait before using them?

I am not sure why you would cancel your trip that far from the hurricane.....the storms are usually in and out in a day or two, and the parks are operating like normal the very next day.

Ivan Weakens Slightly

Florida Keys Are Evacuated

UPDATED: 4:56 PM EDT September 9, 2004

MIAMI -- Forecasters say Hurricane Ivan is still on track to hit Jamaica Friday as a dangerous Category 4 storm.

At 5 p.m. EDT, the center of Ivan was 350 miles southeast of Kingston, Jamaica, moving west-northwest at 15 mph. A government hurricane aircraft has confirmed sustained winds of 150 mph.

Forecasters say the future track of Ivan is highly uncertain, because they expect steering currents to collapse as the storm crosses Cuba. Experts say Ivan will slow down as it threatens Florida on Monday. Although some fluctuations in strength are likely, Ivan could still intensify a little more Thursday.

Evacuations of all tourists and mobile homes from the Florida Keys is under way as the Category 4 storm looms about 900 miles southeast of Miami. It's not expected to reach Florida until sometime Monday. It's the third evacuation order in Florida this hurricane season, the other two being for Hurricanes Charley and Frances.

Just a little nervous...

Also, I guess I would feel a little guilty walking around Disney having a ball and knowing that there is so many people that are looking for fresh water, electricity and maybe even looking for their house!

I appreciate your compassion, but our economy can not survive on compassion.....we need the business!
