If Shatner does it, they'll have to add about 20 more minutes of track to make up for all the "dramatic pauses."

I believe a precedence has already been set. I think Siemens is almost obligated to get another star narrator.

Imagine the pressure though?

They have to choose someone who can do it justice and not sound stupid. I think many stars atleast know what SSE is and how many people will hear their voice - and after being told who came before them they'll probably be a little bit concerned about wether they can do it themselves.

Why not have Jeremy Irons re-do it? Every time I hear "like a grand and miraculous..." it makes the hair on my neck stand up.

I'm not saying they won't get Jeremy Irons to make a redo presentation, I have no idea who they will pick. I'm not saying that Jeremy Irons didn't do a brillant job on the SSE presentation they are using now, he did. I just think, and this is only my opinion, that Siemens wants to put their stamp on this ride, and one that will make the most difference, and be the least expensive (although it will still be very costly), will be a new voice making the presentation.
