"The New Fantasyland" Thread Summary

Dumboland will have 2. Not to mention numerous other attractions added in FL. Are you doing PR for mice age now?

No, not PR, but I've really enjoyed their updates over the past 6 or 8 months. Lots of solid stuff there aimed at Disneyland, yet that relates to WDW. I don't post on their boards much though, too frenzied and fast for my speed.

What's the other ride going in at "Dumboland" in the new Fantasyland? On the blueprints we could only see the double-spinner Dumbo ride with a big covered queue. What's the second ride there?

You said they are losing a ride with the removal of aladdin someday. But that is not accurate because dumbo will double it's capacity. At a minimum.

A double-spinning Dumbo could keep the current ride capacity the same, but the Magic Kingdom's ride count would decline. You would lose an Adventureland ride and maintain the same ride count in Fantasyland.

Mars needs women, and Magic Kingdom needs rides. Tearing out Aladdin with no replacement ride doesn't help that. Which makes me think Dumbo gets a double-spinner version of itself while Aladdin stays right where it is. But you still haven't added to the overall park ride count, you've just increased the capacity of Dumbo.

It honestly doesn't matter to a lot of WDI guys. They hate Aladdin, and it's placement. As do I. It's ugly and out of place, and I really believe it'll be gone soon.

I'm not a huge fan of it either, but the numbers support it being there. Even if a double Dumbo replaces it, you still lose a bit of overall Magic Kingdom ride capacity;

Magic Carpets of Alladin
16 Vehicles, 4 Guests per vehicle
90 second cycle time

Dumbo The Flying Elephant
16 Vehicles, 2 Guests per vehicle
90 second cycle time

So Alladin has already double the capacity of the current Dumbo.

According to the leaked New Fantasyland blueprints, the new double Dumbo has two identical spinners, and when you zoom in on the blueprints both spinners have 16 vehicles. So adding a second identical Dumbo spinner for a total of 32 vehicles, while removing Alladin from Adventureland and deleting those 16 vehicles, not only removes an existing ride and lowers the overall park ride count, but it slightly reduces the overall park ride capacity because the carpets hold 4 riders instead of the 2 that fit in the elephants.

This scenario will be an improvement aesthetically, and I'm sure this "NextGen" Dumbo queue is going to be zippy and impressive, but you've still just got a 90 second spin in a fiberglass elephant and an existing ride removed from Adventureland.

Oh I get what you're saying, but I don't care.

I want my beautiful Adventureland back.

I'm thinking Star Tours is the only bone WDW is getting thrown at 23.

Worst thing TWDC could do right now. I really think there could be an AP revolt if they backhand their fan base in the Florida region.

Some folks will be lost for a loooooooong time if they do that.

There's a much, much worse reprocution if that happens, IMO.

They're on the verge on losing the faith of A LOT of their cast. CMs know the kind of care and additions Disneyland has gotten since the end of the Pressler Era, and they are not happy that WDW has not received the same attention.

You lose the cast, you lose the heart and soul of the parks.

I understand completely. :D Those carpets really screwed it up.

Yet we're still right back at the basic issue of needing to dramatically increase Magic Kingdom's ride count and overall capacity. A double Dumbo will be nice for the stroller set and the parents who will get to wait in a shorter queue. But Magic Kingdom needs more rides built where currently none exist, not just a reshuffling and remodeling of what has existed for the past 10 or 20 years.

Makes sense.

Is it wrong, that I think that that would be wonderful?:lookaroun

Of course, it would only be wonderful, when Disney realizes this, and begins to really invest in WDW...:lookaroun:lol:

I wasn't implying that Aladdin would physically become one of the new Dumbos. I was referring to the hope that they wouldn't be stupid enough to have FOUR spinners in one park.
Hmm... but that's not good for Magic Kingdom's overall ride capacity and ride count. You'd be losing a ride this way.

2009:
Dumbo Spinner
Aladdin Spinner
Astro Jets Spinner

2012:
Dumbo Spinner
Dumbo Spinner
Astro Jets Spinner

There, I fixed that for you. That's really what we're looking at in this plan. You're not losing a ride, you're getting 2-for-1. Probably won't affect park capacity one bit, and certainly wouldn't be less than when they installed Aladdin in the first place.
