Well, this New Fantasyland will result in some Adventureland improvement in a way: one extra Dumbo means one less Aladdin.

Looking at a close-up sattelite image of the two spinners, they don't appear to be the same size. Dumbo is several meters wider from the center of the turntable to the ride vehicle on the end of each arm compared to the distance on the Aladdin vehicles and arms. And if Dumbo is several meters wider, it is likely a bit taller as well.

I can't imagine they would really remove the Aladdin spinner, go to all the trouble of rebuilding and redecorating the entire structure to make it look like Dumbo, and then have both spinners not match each other. The New Fantasyland blueprint showed two identically sized spinners sitting side by side.

Surely this project would mean scrapping the existing 20 year old Dumbo, and then purchasing and installing two new identical spinners to place next to each other. With Aladdin's separate and differently sized spinner still remaining in Adventureland.

I would sure hope Magic Kingdom would not have 4 spinning rides. Thats just crazy. Aladdin is really tacky in Adventureland. :hurl:

I agree until the last sentence. I think the Aladdin spinner will find a home elsewhere. DTD? DHS? WS?

Hmm... but that's not good for Magic Kingdom's overall ride capacity and ride count. You'd be losing a ride this way.

2009:
Dumbo Spinner
Aladdin Spinner
Astro Jets Spinner

2012:
Dumbo Spinner
Astro Jets Spinner

And yes, I realize the "new" Dumbo will have some sort of "interactive NextGen queue" per Al Lutz and the leaked blueprints, but come on, unless they are offering rides on advanced animatronic elephants inside that queue while you wait for your turn it's still just going to be a 90 second spin in a fiberglass Dumbo.

hate to say it but you guys are in for a rude awakening in a couple days from now :brick:

Here are two different mentions about the Park Announcement Event in the Expo Schedule.

"Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Jay Rasulo shares some behind-the-magic details as he pulls back the curtain on several new projects — including a new Disney resort in Hawaii, the expansion of Hong Kong Disneyland, the 12-acre Cars Land that’s set to open at Disney’s California Adventure in 2012 and maybe even a surprise or two!"

and...

"And on Saturday, September 12 at 11 a.m. in the Anaheim Convention Center D23 Arena, get the inside scoop on exciting new developments straight from Walt Disney Parks and Resorts Chairman Jay Rasulo. Jay will share behind-the-magic details and pull back the curtain on several new projects — including concepts, models and plans for the 12-acre Cars Land that’s set to open at Disney’s California Adventure in 2012."

Do you think ANY WDW stuff will be announced? What about this "surprise or two!"?

Al Lutz has already released one surprise; the likely return of Captain EO to Disneyland this January.

And then there's the worst kept secret in Disney Parks history; the remake of Star Tours into Star Tours 2.0 to open at Disneyland in Spring, 2011 per Al Lutz.

So there's your first and second "surprise", already laid out quite clearly in numerous Miceage updates over the last six months, in addition to little mentions and tags and hints on other Star Wars and theme park websites after Miceage mentioned it.

That would be huge! That thing is the bane of AL's existence. Ruins the whole area....

Dumboland will have 2. Not to mention numerous other attractions added in FL. Are you doing PR for mice age now?
