The one thing that will stink about the Wizard World of Harry Potter is the shop sizes. I heard on a podcast that the shops will be as small as they were in the films...And they talked about Universal even setting up ques outside of the stores... Atleast Disney shops aren't cramped. Although Universal does seem to have attraction specific merchandise unlike Disney.

I've heard that too. It sucks, but I'm REALLY glad they are doing this right.

This is the first time I've ever heard someone complain about more park space being given to attractions instead of retail.

As a huge Disney fan I say Fantasyland. But, even though I have not been to Universal in almost 20 years, I can see Harry Potter is going to be a huge draw.

WOW! 20 years!! I think both parks are magical in totally different ways. I absolutly love HP though!

As a child who grew up going to WDW annually, I have a bias towards Disney. However we frequented Universal many times during those trips.

I find Harry Potter boring. I thought it was a great first three books (the movies were good also), but the following 4 were overbearing. I like to read and all, but 700+ pages for a childrens/fantasy book is a little much. And most recently the sixth movie was a horrible comparison to the book. Throughout the growth of the HP franchise, there were constant claims that JK Rowling was in intensely guiding the films, however seeing the most recent product, I find that hard to believe. And with WWoHP I feel that it will be uncomparable to the imagery of the novels and will disappoint the most avid fans of the Harry Potter franchise.

So, I am looking much forward to the immersion that will result from the expansion of fantasyland. The concept art looks amazing and I feel that it will allow families to interact with Disney princesses in a whole new way.

Constantly in this thread, there are arguments that its only for girls, its won't be good for everyone. Tell me then, how everyone won't enjoy two dumbo spinners? How will girls and boys alike not be amazed by eating in the grand ballroom of the beast's castle. Girls, might be amazed by the princesses and the interaction. But boys, they will find the rockwork, landscaping, and the "magic" of the entire expansion interesting.

Having experienced Disney all my life, I appreciate what it brings to society. I am a male in college and to this day enjoy Disney parks. While I might not do every attraction or run to every ride. I am fascinated by the imagineering of the entire thing. Though I am an accounting major, I look forward to walking through the turnstiles and being transported away from today and transported to the lands of yesterday, tomorrow, and fantasy. I believe that the expansion of fantasyland will expand Walt Disney's goal a creating a place and children, parents, and all people could immerse themselves into another world.

Whereas, I believe IOA does not achieve that goal. From the park, you can see another park, and a parking garage, and so many other distraction that remove the creation of a new environment. HP and the FJ may be a quality attraction and Hogsmeade may be a wonderful recreation, I have desire to experience Harry Potters world and be able to see a Roller Coaster in the other park and completely ruins the magic.

See i have grown up with Harry potter and as corny as it sounds its been a significant part of my life and childhood memories (That sounds corny but i suppose its similar to how some people feel about wizard of oz and willy wonka etc) I also feel this about disney but harry potter is my fav books and i love the film, especially the recent one!

I personally think harry potter will appeal more to the older generations then the older generations (No offence..:lookaroun:rolleyes:)
as i think alot of people will think/feel the same way. ;););)

I can see a medieval Castle from Frontierland at MK, explain that!

Eeh, I wouldn't count on it.

Ummm.... no. Little boys are not going to sit back and enjoy the craftsmanship of the place while the girls have all the fun. They want something to do. Something that allows them to blow off some steam and there's really not much in the expansion that will cater to them.

I never have enough time in Orlando to do everything I want to do at WDW as it is. I have absolutely zero interest in doing anything in Orlando outside of WDW.

Uhhh...the sixth movie was by far the best of the series.

I can confidently say I am one of the most avid HP fans out there, and the scenery and the detail in the thing is basically perfect. They're even sacrificing retail space to make the shops as realistic as possible.

But boys, they will find the rockwork, landscaping, and the "magic" of the entire expansion interesting.

Seriously? Oh yes I can see it now. The boys will be so happy to look at rocks while sissy plays with Cinderella.

What about that big contemporary looking tower I can see from the top of Splash Mountain? Or that giant stone swan I can see behind Canada?

Or the giant blue building behind Canada. Or that I can see Everest when I enter Dinoland USA.

Man, those really ruin the magic.

The 6th movie was awesome...until that huge, awesome, epic finale.....never happened.

I'm VERY pleased on that news about the stores. How more authentic can it get? :D

And this boy is very happy to look at rocks. And trees. And water.:lookaroun

Turn of the century American town with a European castle at the end of the road.... :lookaroun

I've been seeing this castle a lot lately... anyone got an idea of what it is because the magic is lost for me. :(

On a more serious and wizarding note: The store size "authenticity" reminds me of the same "authenticity" often being the fault for Paradise Pier and Dinorama.... :lookaroun
