The Muppets Present… Great Moments in American History'

Purchased IP's??? This has been going on since day one at Disney Parks. It in NOT something new. With the exception of Mickey and the gang, almost ALL of Walt's creations were acquired IP's or unoriginal ideas that he twisted into his own stories.

If I have to make a list of these to prove my point, I will, but just think about the Fantasyland attractions at Disneyland.

"Twisted", what a nice word. Well, it took artistry to twist those acquired IPs into their definitive, immortal Disney versions that built the studio and built the parks, and if you can't see the difference between that artistry and mere acquisitions of already-developed/play-out IPs, then you'll probably never get it. But what the heck, I'll try: look at Universal, what a great park it is, what great IPs it has. And yet, it has never gotten close to being as popular as a Disney park. Why is that? Could it be that it's because of Walt's legacy of artistry, creativity, innovation, and magic, and people remember it and WANT it and that's what draws them? That there's a little more there at a Disney park, a certain something that Universal just doesn't have? Even Robert Iger admitted, after the DCA overhaul, that the reason that the original DCA failed is because what people want out of a Disney park is DISNEY! (Yeah, and for a moment there, I thought, "My god, he finally gets it!" But ha ha ha, silly me!)

You certainly don't expect him to say anything about the Muppets in a favorable light, do you?

His hatred of all things "Muppet" runs deep in his veins.

Yeah, I'm an infidel, declare a fatwah already.:D I did read that, and at present I can't find the article online. But why wouldn't it be true? Sweat + foam rubber+fabric=smell. OH wait, did my mentioning that the Muppets are puppets offend you? So sorry.

No more so than me mentioning that Mickey is a cartoon.

I don't think you necessarily get it, either, if you think that Star Wars or Marvel are played out and/or offer no room for further development. Heck, Disney adapted Marvel's Big Hero 6, and I seem to recall you actually LIKED that movie, but that's totally different because REASONS.

By the time Disney got through with it, Big Hero Six wasn't Marvel's anymore, it was Disney's. And it was a billion times better. In other words, it was adapted in the grand Disney style. REASON enough for me to like it.

And now for some comedy relief:

Rainbow Dash: Jar Jar Binks is not a terrible character!
Quibble Pants: Oh and now you're calling decent an annoying, dimwitted, anti-comedic moron whose only reason for existence is because George Lucas forgot how to write a good character!
Rainbow Dash: You're putting words in my mouth!
Quibble Pants: But that's exactly what you said!

When cartoon ponies start acting like us, maybe it's time to give it a rest, no? :D

I don't think coming out as a Brony is going to be helping your case here.

Also, Big Hero 6 may have been totally rebuilt by Disney, but it totally follows the same Marvel movie formula full of quips, a focus on super-science, a generic "disgruntled scientist whose a dark mirror of the hero" villain, Stan Lee, and a climax involving some kinda portal/energy-motron releasing powerful glowing stuff into the skies of a major city.

And let's not forget that Lucasfilm and Marvel are both now being allowed to do whatever they like, more or less, and Disney will promote it, which is the EXACT same relationship they've had with Pixar for the past 20 years. I still have absolutely no idea how MP justifies the latter, but not the former, aside from the fact he makes a pass for stuff he likes.

I'm a WHAT? No, I'm not a Brony. But a friend of mine has been lurking here and reading this thread, and he sent me that picture and the caption beneath (which he didn't write - it was at a My Little Pony website, one of the adult ones, if you can believe such things exist.) So I hunted it down and pasted it here. I thought it was funny. Too bad you didn't. You don't get a participation award.

As for the rest, yawn, Disney used story elements from the other classics it adapted and made its own too. But you at least you got the "totally rebuilt" part right, even if you don't seem to fully understand it. That's the creativity. That's the Disney magic. The insight that can make a good story even better. That's the difference between Disney's "Pinocchio" and that terrible Henson version that bombed at the box office. Oops...
