The Muppets Present… Great Moments in American History'

You know, I heard that same argument when the new show brought in bad language, drinking, and sexual references. Diehard Muppets fans were convinced all that was okay. And what was the result? Cancellation. And a LOT of bad press. Why exactly, should I change my mind about that OR this?

I respect your feelings for finding better properties that would be more suitable for Liberty Square. But I think you are being hyperbolic now. My family likes the Muppets and were turned off by the new show..it was just dark for family entertainment. As far as this idea goes I don't love it, I just think it's odd..but who knows maybe they can pull off something that works. It's hard to imagine it being a great success or a total bomb because it just seems way out of left field...I just see decisions like these and think okay maybe that will work, but is that really the best you've got? I just want to see more A game decisions.

It's an affront to Liberty Square and a sad attempt to put the puppets somewhere, anywhere, to make use of them somehow, now that their movie and TV prospects are dead. Yeesh.

And honestly I think you're being extremely extremely negative and need to step away from the computer about this until the show debuts and we can all judge properly whether they are being used properly.
Extreme negativity is what ruins vacations. Why go through life being so negative that you feel the need to put down characters and ideas that people still love?
I'm cautiously optimistic with this. Cautiously.

Sounds cute. And it is premiering around when HoP will have to close for awhile anyway.
So that's why they're doing it.
Muppets teaching kids about history? Ridiculous!

"Take the George Washington bridge" :hilarious:
Because of the show being about American history.
My point was that they could've made a different show and put it in DHS. I don't think this will be bad. I just have a few questions regarding putting forth the effort of making a dedicated Muppets mini-land in DHS and then putting a new show in Magic Kingdom.

Nothing wrong with spreading the IPs around. We are after all getting an entire TS land in DHS, yet theyre in MK too.

This seems like a fun idea for this spot and I'm in the Muppets are irrelevant crowd. An addition is always a positive. The problem I have with this is that it should have gone in you know the Muppets Courtyard in a sad excuse for a park in DHS. Even if they're planning on replacing both Batb and LM with new shows soon, DHS needs all it can get.

Jeez, I've been proven right again and again about the poor choice the Disney company made in buying that IP. And yet there are still true believers, and they think I'm being stubborn? Whatever. Those of you who "love me some Muppets!" and are convinced that "if they were done RIGHT, it's not THEIR fault they keep failing, it's DISNEY'S fault, durrr" enjoy the dumbing-down of Liberty Square, enjoy tripping over even more strollers, or perhaps sitting in one, while watching this sad, shabby, latest attempt to make some use of a dead franchise. I've said all I'm going to say about this, aside from expressing my gratitude that this atrocity was leaked to us months before it happened, just like the terrible rumor about the Tower. It allows for some distance and girding of the stomach. See ya.

I am glad you got that off your chest. Now we can all breathe a sigh of relief.

Kind of confused as to how this is going to work. Where will the viewing areas be and will it be animatronics? I think this is a fine addition I really have no problem with this.

It seems like it is going to be like any street show...they come out, sing some songs and do some stuff...and then go away until they come out again later for another appearance.

That TV show was awful. I'm a Muppets fan, but whoever wrote/directed/produced that POS should be embarrassed. Trying to recreate Modern Family humor with the Muppets was dumb. I like this addition to the park - if it goes well, I can see other "performances" popping up. It helps with those unplanned moments that will be remembered.

I strongly disagree on the new TV show. It was actually great and you're completely wrong about it, miss the point, don't get the jokes and ideas, etc.

You've... you've not seen any of his prior posts, I wager? The Muppets, and Star Wars, and Marvel have no artistic or cultural merit whatsoever, and anyone who DOES enjoy them CLEARLY has juvenile, infantile tastes.

Ohhh, you mean the bees knees.

Twenty-three skidoo!

I like the Muppets, and I like Liberty Square. Both are enjoyable entertainments to me in their proper context.

But mixing them together is like putting BBQ sauce on ice cream. It doesnt really work, even if your stomach can take it.

Why though? Just curious why it's so awful? It's not like they gutted the Hall of Presidents for a Muppets attraction. It's just the characters entertaining guests on history. I don't see it any different than say Chip and Dale greeting in Frontierland or the characters dressing up to fit the area.

I get people's resistance to "push the IP" thing but sometimes something can just be entertaining and fun. This isn't really changing Liberty Square. JMO.

I want theme to be stuck to as much as anyone, I do, but it's really not the same as shoving Frozen or Guardians into perfectly (mostly) fine rides instead of new builds.

Liberty Square is (or at least was) built to represent a specifc time and place in history, drawing from real life examples of architecture and business to establish a plausible reality for guests to explore. Same as Main Street or Frontierland.

The Muppets are fictional characters. They are neither real now, nor were they in the late 18th century. If they ever did go into the past (like in Christmas Carol, or Treasure Island), it was in a world reshaped for them, in another example of fiction (complete with 4th wall breaking). That tone doesn't really fit with the land, and I'd prefer not to have any modern characters featured in this way.

As other have said, having a new Muppet show, in their designated area of DHS, would have been better IMO.

... You know the Haunted Mansion is in Liberty Square, right? When, in our nation's history, has the existence of ghosts been conclusively proven to be "real" or "plausible"?

You obviously don't watch this! :D
