The big blue box, the unthemed Tron coaster showbuilding, would be egregious. There's no way they would hide it or even could hide it well. Ironically I think it wouldn't be as obtrusive as it will be in MK, because Space Mountain is more of a focal point there, but it would still be very bad for some similar and some unique reasons. Bad. Very bad. There are a lot of things we should be arguing for but not the Tron coaster in DL.

The big blue box, the unthemed Tron coaster showbuilding, would be the tallest building in the park. Over 20 feet taller than the Matterhorn. Less than 20 feet shorter than Mission Breakout. There's no way they would hide it or even could hide it well. Ironically I think it wouldn't be as obtrusive as it will be in MK, because Space Mountain is more of a focal point there, but it would still be very bad for some similar and some unique reasons. While I think it just looks awful and really isn’t that great, the gravity building for TRON is not even 100’ tall.

I have friends who are planning a Disneyland trip in late May. Recently they realized that they have chosen a Grad Night date and are concerned about what that will mean in practice. California Adventure closes at 9:00pm, while Disneyland remains open until midnight. How do these events usually work? Do students go to Disneyland, or do they only attend California Adventure?

Their tickets include Entrance to the parks during regular hours.

So that means Disney is busy until 9 PM, then they shift to DCA.

Since we are talking in the Miscellanous thread, sitting in a grandstand at the Grand Prix of Long Beach.

Beautiful weather, making the Long Beach Tourism folks very happy.

Was at DCA yesterday. As I approached GOTG: MB what bothered me most (this time) was not that it’s ugly but that they overlayed a giant building that was so obviously supposed to be something else. I dunno, I just don’t think you take those kind of liberties with the tallest building in the parks.

Oh ya the FP station where they just slapped “Tivian” on the bronze suitcases on the FP machines? 😒

Also kind of crazy how much you can see of the Cadillac Mountain range from GOTG now.

That's a part of our curse as park enthusiasts. It doesn't really look like a hotel, but we've seen it long enough as such that the overlay is transparent. I have been to the park with first timers and they expressed surprise at the building's past and mentioned that they could only kind of see that it had been a hotel. I'm not sure I'll ever be able to completely see past the Hollywood Tower Hotel though.

Also, as you say, those suitcase fastpass machines have to go and one would hope there's a crumb in the Marvel Land budget to improve them!

I mean it was purpose built to be a hotel. Hotels are usually tall, rectangular structures. I can’t unsee that it was a hotel and I just feel like them the overlaying the largest building at the parks like that just goes against all of their Imagineering/ story/ design principles. But I agree, casual fans don’t see all kinds of things. But they also see some things too. Two examples, one girl yesterday obviously seeing the Collectors Tower for the first time said, “ wooooow, that’s amazing!” Another one behind me on POTC said, “they’re auctioning chickens? How stupid!” Even she realized it was dumb and didn’t go with the spirit of the attraction.
