Still sounds like the same place I stayed at when it was Paradise Pier. The art work changed but the pool is just a basic pool with a small jacuzzi on top of the parking garage. It was just a place to sleep with no other perks. I remember the gym wasn't that great. You also have along walk to get the parks.

The last time I went to the gym wile I was staying at a hotel or on vacation was before I was married. Lol. So I didn’t see the gym. The pool is facing the parking structure not right on it I believe but yeah I think they could have done a better job hiding that parking structure from view. The walk is actually nice and short if you use the private entrance into Pixar Pier.

Re: That clip of the CGI dwarfs running on the conveyor belt that Disney keeps promoting their new Snow White with….

Does… does anyone at Disney actually think that looks good? That it’s funny? That it’s appealing? That it’s anything besides a huge slap in the face to their animation legacy?

Disney, please. Just stop it. You’re embarrassing yourselves.

Anyone else think it’s weird that you can’t get Disney+ in the hotel rooms at Disneyland and world? Seems like it would be a good perk to include. Get people hooked on it at the resort and maybe they will buy it at home.
It would have to be a special account made specifically for hotels that doesn't keep a history or a "Continue Watching" bar or anything like that. Also would need to be an account that is always logged in and you can't access account settings or log out from.

I doubt such an account type exists and I also doubt one will ever be made because D+ and Parks/Hospitality are different divisions and neither one probably wants to fit the bill for the development work. This is Disney we are talking about. They stopped going the extra mile if they don't have to.

I could be wrong or misremembering, but I vaguely remember there being a trial run of D+ being offered in one of the Resorts at WDW. This would have been shortly after launch but before the pandemic shutdowns when they were offering trail accounts, but can't find any info on it at this point.

Anyways, I believe you can watch D+ in almost all Disney Hotel Rooms at all Disney Parks provided you have an account. Its in all rooms that have SmartTVs, you just have to sign-in.

Actually I've found most TVs in Hotels these days have most services available, including D+. Again you just have to have your own account and sign-in (remembering to sign-out when you leave).

yeah. Just seems to me it would be a nice perk to have for free. Oh well though.

Well, yeah, but why isn't it complementary with the hotel? It costs Disney nothing to include it as part of the guests' stay.

And why isn't Peacock offered for free at Uni partnered hotels that cost a boatload too, its because its not something they want to offer.

And if you want to get technical, as its not part of the same division Parks would have to license it from DTC, similar to when they license characters or other stuff from Studios for the Parks. So there is a cost associated with it, even if you don't realize it.

Well as it was mentioned it would require a different type of account one that requires development and not currently available, an expense not likely worth it to Disney.

But what I could see happening maybe in the future, Disney has recently started to offer several free live streaming channels on D+ where it just plays stuff on a non-stop loop with ads, so they could just find a way to pump just those into rooms without access to the rest of D+. It would be no different to their resort channels.

This is probably as good as it’s gonna get. I just hope they make more of those with more variety. As of now I can’t honestly imagine why I would use them at home.

That and Universal doesn’t own their hotels fully, Lowe’s owns part of them making such an arrangement much harder.

No, seriously... WHY is that wall still in the front of tomorrowland? Brought some friends who hadn't been in a few years and they were shocked that the front of tomorrowland was untouched since they were last here and that wall is STILL there.

The multilayer entrance of Tomorrowland is insane.

Flower beds are the first layer. Then the Orbitor. Then the People Mover/silver peaks. Then the peaks of Star Tours and Buzz Lightyear. Then you're finally in Tomorrowland. It's so cluttered.

Bring back the sleek simplicity of the 1967 entrance.

Yeah, it's possible they thought about this and even tried it but some higher up with dollar signs in their eyes didn't like it because they wanted people to sign up and pay for it.

That was going to be my next question. Since I've never stayed at one of the on-site hotels I was wondering if they already provided smart tvs or 3rd-party boxes/dongles hooked up to even be able to watch streaming apps.

I've stayed at quite a few hotels in the area and most actually didn't offer smart tvs....granted I mostly stay in cheaper options so maybe higher end hotels do. I typically bring my Roku or Chromecast just in case and hope the HDMI ports are available and easy to get to.

I was pleasantly surprised though that the Park Vue Inn has a Chromecast already hooked up to the TV and was able to connect to it from my phone.

Again, depends on if they have a public-friendly version of the app available. If they don't, then yes, there would be a cost to it for Disney to develop that, but if they already do, then as I said above they might just not want to leave any money on the table.

This one truly has me baffled. I really thought with all of the other projects they've been doing to prepare for the 70th this one would have been added to that list.

Maybe the 75th? 100th? Maybe never? Nothing says "Disney" like a permanent construction wall.

I've now stayed at most of the hotels directly across the street from DLR on Harbor, and most of them now have SmartTVs in them that have streaming apps. This isn't ALL but yes the cheaper the hotel and the farther away you stay from the resort the less likely you'll be to get a SmartTV, ie you'll get less frills. I've even found that in those cheaper hotels the HDMI ports aren't even accessible on the TV, if they even exist at all.

Having the proper Fantasmic Monkeys as a photo op during '90s nite, while the show limps along in like D mode and has been sub par since 2017 is ridiculous. It's like they're taunting us.
