The ball is all knowing...

It was doing the moon thing until about 11. Pretty cool. Though, its only a month old and they already have some dead pixels and rogue LED strips. Still working out the kinks.

Not really Disney related except for Star Tours, but I thought this was very sweet of them in Cabazon to do this.

I had generally associated these dinosaurs with Sinclair service stations whenever I drove by them on the way to Palm Springs, but I now realize there's also a Paul Reubens association to them. I love it either way. Sinclair or Pee-Wee, both are great.

I’m fascinated by the physical properties of Lego; specifically the way that whenever I accidentally knock one of the smaller pieces to the floor, it will invariably bounce and ricochet with a speed and distance that seem way out of proportion to the small height it fell from… and it will always make a beeline for the dead center underside of the heaviest piece of furniture in the room.

Is there something going on with the site on mobile or did I somehow switch to desktop mode without noticing? Does anyone know how to switch back? Can’t find it.

Has anyone tried this?

I have!

I ordered off of a new prix fixe menu when I ate there, which included a salad, entree (in my case, monte cristo & pomme frites), and dessert, somewhere in the $30-40 dollar range-I want to say a soft drink or mint julep was also included. Before I got my dessert, the people next to us had it served to them first, and I assumed based on the visuals that it was some sort of birthday dessert, but to my surprise, it turned out to be the dessert included in the prix fix menu. I don't believe it's possible to order it a la carte, as it wasn't listed on the menu otherwise, but I suppose it doesn't hurt to ask.

I thought it was visually stunning and had many strong elements-in particular, the cookie base the mousse sits on was wonderful. The weakest part of it by far, though, was the actual mousse-the consistency just didn't seem right, and it wasn't super flavorful either. Everything surrounding it was pretty good.

To be honest, I didn't really feel like I needed the appetizer or dessert, with how filling the monte cristo and pomme frites are-and although you don't get quite as much as you did when you had to purchase both of those items separately, the serving sizes for the monte cristo in particular did seem larger to me than they were last year. I might have been more receptive to it overall if it was available a la carte or if I hadn't already been so full. But it was beautifully presented, and many parts of it were good enough to make it seem worth it in the moment. Not sure I'd get it again, though.

Oh my gosh. The Monte Cristo is so good. I had it the last time I was at Disneyland (2011), and I still think about it 😭

A little serious for a lovely Saturday afternoon, but we all need a reminder on this...

Chatting last night with some friends who vacation often on Maui, the news and devastation from that island is heart breaking. One thing not getting much attention is the fact that while Hawaii has the most extensive public alert siren system in the nation to warn of impending tsunamis or surprise nuclear attack or volcanic eruptions, all of the government evacuation sirens stayed silent during the fires last Monday and Tuesday. No one at the state or county level thought of activating the evacuation sirens, even as electricity and cell phone service collapsed, before the fire reached the Lahaina city limits. CNN reports that no one from county or state government even made an attempt to activate any of Maui's 80 different evacuation sirens at any time. :banghead:

That is a good reminder that we are all ultimately responsible for our own safety, and in a real emergency we can not rely on the government to communicate with us or save us. Many of us on this forum are Westerners who live near seismic faults, or near active volcanoes, or near the beach, or near wildfire fueled hills. We must all have a To-Go Bag, plus our own food and water to sustain us for at least a week, and something to defend yourself and your home against looters or criminals when there is no cell phone or electrical service for days.

The American Red Cross has a great site that makes it easy to donate whatever you can afford to the Maui victims. Once you are confident you have made the proper arrangements for your own safety and health during an emergency, please consider donating to the Red Cross or any other reputable charity providing relief for our fellow Americans in need on Maui. Thank you. 😍🇺🇸

Ever walk through Paradise Pier during World of Color? Everything is dark; it's kinda creepy! Feels almost like an abandoned amusement park. My wife and I took a stroll back there Friday night, and from Bayside Brews to Incredicoaster we saw/passed almost no one. Reminded me of some anxiety-inducing late-night walks through DTLA in my recent memory... except, you know, in this situation the person creeping up behind me was carrying a bubble wand.
