I don't know if this is the correct place to ask this, but we are going on vacation to California and will be spending a couple of days in Los Angeles.

We are interested in going on a hike to the Hollywood Sign, but were looking for opinions on whether we should attempt to do this ourselves or whether we should join an organised tour, such as this tour from Bikes And Hikes LA.

Does anyone have any experience with this tour?

Thank you for your help.
There is no reason to take an organized hike to the sign. Save your money and just go do the hike yourself. Bring plenty of water and dress accordingly it is hot out there. There are lots of great hikes in the Santa Monica mountains to do. Just watch out for rattlesnakes and bob cats.

Splash Mountain is on this new Disney Visa card but apparently they were planning the Tiana takeover long before the events of 2020 🙄

Just a point of fact the card is called "Retro Walt Disney World", so whether planning Tiana prior to 2020 or not the image is still of a retro WDW.

Also a card design like this would have been approved post-2020 announcement. So doesn't really indicate anything in terms of when the planning for Tiana started.

What does this have to do with anything?

So because Splash closed 6 months ago its considered retro? You're kidding right?

Post 2020? No Way the same company that removed ZADD from an esplanade music loop chose to put Splash on a credit card post 2020. Unless of course they are just incompetent and/ or completely disconnected across the organization.

My point is that the image is of retro WDW, ie WDW of the past, whatever time period is irrelevant and so is the fact that Splash closed 6 months ago.

The card design wouldn't have taken 4+ years to be approved and then push to market. Disney back in October renewed their partnership with Chase. As part of the renewed partnership was when they talked about the new 100th Anniversary designs.

So maybe someone is incompetent or disconnected, but its clear this was done AFTER the 2020 Tiana announcement.

Aside from the absurdity of the idea that they were forced to sit on this card design since at least early 2020 and that this would say anything about their plans or lack of plans…. one of the new card designs is a full on Tiana card. So yeah, clearly done after the 2020 announcement.

Ok I thought you were saying that Splash being closed makes it retro. Either way I’m not sure what intern considers Splash to be retro at either Disneyland or Disney World. I certainly don’t and would imagine most here would agree. I mean, I guess if you’re 20 or under then you might view it as retro. Just an odd choice all around.

Just does not make sense how the same company that removed the second most iconic Disney song from a music loop would choose to put the Splash icon on a credit card but much of what they do these days does not make sense. But I’m not taking what you said as gospel either. Their could be all sorts of reasons they decided to roll with it.

You don't have to take my word for it on anything, here is the announcement from Chase back in October where they take a bit about the new design.

Twenty years is the common threshold for things to start being considered retro/vintage.

Different groups work on different things. The people working with Chase aren’t at Walt Disney Imagineering or even park operations.

I just skimmed but I didn’t see anywhere that refers to the WDW retro card. That metal card they re referring to is something else.
I didn't say they mentioned the WDW Retro Card, just that they mentioned the 100th Anniversary card. They were releasing all these new card designs at the same time, so it shows this is something that came after the 2020 Tiana announcement.

Clearly. But you have to admit it makes no sense that the Splash icon would somehow make it onto anything Disney is putting out post 2021

How does that guarantee that the design wasn’t already finalized and they just rolled with it?

Clearly you're trying to find something to be mad or disappointed about, I get it. But seriously its just a design on a credit card. And yes someone may have missed or not cared about Splash being on there when the design was approved. But there isn't some big conspiracy here.

Personally I have the metal 100th anniversary one myself.

No, because I learned long ago that with Disney my base assumption should be that the left hand not only doesn’t know what the right hand is doing, but it might even be attached to a different body.

Lol can’t argue that. I give them too much credit sometimes.

Not sure why you came to that conclusion but 👍🏻

I'm just basing it on the original post you made with the eye roll. If I'm incorrect so be it, but then I don't get the point of the post if not to show some type of anger, disappointment, or some "gotcha" moment by pointing out some conspiracy which is likely false anyways.
