I’m pretty sure Disney considers my family and I “favorable” now between the tripledemic over the holidays and this historic run of rain here in So Cal. Paying for Believe Key passes for the fam and have only been to the parks twice since November 5th.

It's like a gym membership. They want you to sign up, but then not go.

Haha right! My gym is making a killing one me! I’m averaging about 2x a year. But I’m grandfathered into an old rate so I can continue to throw money away.

My buddy and I just ditched the local commercial gym for a warehouse powerlifting gym. Instead of $15/month it's $65 but it's wonderful- just weights, atlas balls, logs as far as the eye can see... not a treadmill or elliptical or machine to be found.

Update on Haunted Mansion Holiday -

"Disneyland announced in September that Haunted Mansion Holiday would run through Jan. 8 — the traditional end of the holidays at the Anaheim theme parks.

But now Haunted Mansion Holiday will stick around an extra three weeks until Jan. 29, according to the Disneyland website.

The venerable haunted house will close on Jan. 30 for its conversion back to its year-round version, according to the Disneyland website.

Disneyland has not announced why the run of the annual seasonal overlay was extended. The theme park has a number of attraction refurbishment projects planned for January.

Haunted Mansion Holiday and It’s a Small World Holiday typically end their seasonal runs in January — with Mansion closing first followed by Small World about two weeks later.

In 2023, that order will be swapped with Small World closed Jan. 9-19 and Haunted Mansion closing on Jan. 30, according to the Disneyland website.

A return date has not yet been set for the classic version of Haunted Mansion, according to the Disneyland website."

One more update - Disney says Haunted Mansion is set to reopen on February 10th, 2023.

This video reminds me of what I said about WDW fans regarding Disneyland. The size of the castle is, for the most part, the main thing they talk about. That’s it lol. We all know which castle park is better.

The Florida Castle is a big, nice-looking fake castle that serves as a welcoming sight upon arrival. But as the day wears on, one discovers that it is mainly functioning as:

1) An overpriced character meal.
2) A backdrop for loud character stage shows.
3) The reason people are lining up DOWN THE CENTER OF MAIN STREET so they can get the “perfect photo” taken by a professional. I hate this! HAAAATE it!!!! (And I bet the Main St. vehicle drivers hate it too)
4) A huge, obnoxious roadblock between Fantasyland and Main Street that you often have to detour around (and it’s a loooooong detour) because of Point 2.

It took me less than one half-day to start resenting everything MK uses that huge fake castle for. Still looks pretty and surreal from a distance, though.

I will say the castle is awe inspiring upon first seeing it in person and the size/scale of the MK hub area in general is much more accommodating and accessible for fireworks viewing from a sheer accessibility perspective.

But I agree the scale at times does dwarf the surrounding area and with the absence of a walk through feels a bit like “all flash, no substance”.
