The theme for California Screamin' was good, as was the coaster itself, but the theming has always been low-rent.

And yet, everything good about the Incredicoaster was inherited from California Screamin'. It's a good coaster despite the overlay.
I remember when DCA opened there was debate about if it was actually themes or not. I consider it a steel coaster themed as a wooden coaster. It is very well done for the "theme" of that section of the park. I consider the new mid century station to be themed but putting a few resin or fiberglass characters along the route is not thumbing much like the All Star resorts at WDW and not really themed.

@tcool123 I would definitely save any corn dog for Little Red Wagon. It’s not that the ones at Corn Dog Castle are nasty, they just don’t taste as good. Also, regarding CMs, your eyes and observations aren’t deceiving you. I’d wager to guess that the majority of DLR CMs are not only American, but probably mostly Californian, too. We don’t get as many foreigners in general (CMs and guests included) here. The foreigners we do get tend to come from Australia or an Asian country, such as Japan. But still, they’re greatly outnumbered by locals and folks from nearby western states (Nevada, Arizona, Oregon, Washington, etc.).

Some observations based on Disneyland vs Disney World:

1. I’m SHOCKED Disneyland is still using the old school bag check with tables individually checking every bag and having to remove everything from your pockets. Disney World uses a system where the scanners can tell if you have unusual shapes in your bags or pockets to pull you aside, glasses cases love to set it off when in my Loungefly 🥴

2. Does nobody speak a second language here? I say this sarcastically as I know people can and likely do speak other languages, but at Disney World under each name tag there’s a second language button; we haven’t seen any in Disneyland yet which is odd to me 😅
1. Believe it or not, bag check/security is actually an improvement over how it used to be, but agreed that currently WDW (and many, many other parks out there at the moment) do it better right now where you basically just walk right through the metal detectors and if they need to pull you aside, they do, but otherwise you walk right through. Or Paris, which had airport-style luggage scanners back in 2015- that would even be an improvement over what's there now. DLR definitely has the worst entrance/security setup of any of the Disney parks.

2. I saw some Spanish-speaking cast members but that's about it. One game I sometimes play is "count the Californians" (or, more manageably, count the non-Californians) among the CMs. It's rare to find someone that's not from California working at DLR (though there were a few from Mexico; a few years ago there was one gentleman from New Zealand manning rope drop), unlike WDW where it's a true melting pot of CMs.

Good to know , glad to have the experts on hand :)

I guess I’m just spoiled being used to those from around the world growing up in Miami and living near Disney World; interesting to know though!

Wow I can’t even imagine how it could be slower, would they physically wand everyone down or something? Glad to be experiencing DLR security at its peak of existence then!

Im not sure if this is a common complaint or not, maybe the folks of Cali are used to this direct sun but is it just me is DCA lacking in shade? In the Paradise Park/Pier area and oooph my farmer’s tan gonna be on point for Santa Monica 😅

A few umbrellas and fans in some of these queues could do wonders

Yup! I always overheated in DCA on warm days. Always went equipped with an umbrella and spray fan. And of course, drink plenty of Ghirardelli chocolate milkshakes.

If I go again I will miss the Bug's Land water play area. I would get soaked to stay cool.

We can still relate. California has the most immigrants in the country, most of them living in Southern California. The majority of them don’t work at Disneyland.😉

Throw some fans up on these shade lampposts and now we’re talking. Im starting to think Imagineering doesn’t go outside enough based on DCA and Toy Story Land in Florida 😅

I really miss those huge trees that used to be along the parade route in Paradise Park. They provided so much nice shade.

Well that was a dumb decision, but wt leert theres some trees still here with something, right now in line for Mermaid to get som AC and see some folks napping on a bench under the shade. Can’t blame them, just got into Mermaid and wow that air is amazing. Hitting up Grizzly River Run with a Lighting Lane, just like yesterday we had a similar lighting lane blessing so longest we waited today was the Pal A Round at 20 minutes?

BTW, hope you’re enjoying DCA. I’m sure you’ve read some negative things from us regarding the park, but I sincerely hope you and your family are having a good time!
We are, my parents have been out of comission after doing Spiderman, Gaurdian and Cars in a hour at park open. We have done everything in the Paradise Park/Pier sans Midway Mania which we have a LL for later. Got them on Mermaid so we can all get shad and ac. Going to hit up the Bakery Tour and Hollywood Backlot next for AC after Grizzly.

Honestly I get the criticisms, Avengers Campus ends abruptly by the Hollywood Backlot, lack of shade in a lot of the park. But still tons of fun and the short waits throughout the park have helped to make this enjoyable, and not going to lie when I was elementary Golden Zephyr and Jumpin Jellyfish were my mustdos so its nice to get my childhood dreams come true, even if they were an odd choice for me to have as a kid 😅

Fall Guys is a free-to-play online game I enjoy (60 players rush through insane obstacle courses in a fictional game show). The end goal is, basically, to earn points to buy crazy costumes to dress your hapless contestant in. And, of course, there’s a shop where you can spend real money on such things. I try to resist these impulse buys but today I checked the shop and…

I can’t stop smiling. Baloo and King Louie are also available—for a couple more days. I don’t know if there will be more classic Disney costumes coming, but I sure hope so.

How many good ideas, stories, edditing decisions, that were attributed to Lassiter were actually his? Clearly he stole an entire movie plot, art, and characters and had no shame in touring himself as the creator of Cars. Is he really all that great?

Many women at Skydance Animation left when Lassetter was hired. I'm sure like any high up person he had plenty of butt kissers but it does not at all excuse his behavior or even Skydance's hiring of him.

It's not just the physical harassment, you can read many accounts of women who literally couldn't move up at all in the company while others took credit for their work.

I've seen this happen to many women at different companies, even my own wife. Lasseter is a terrible person.

His whole "Cars" franchise that he presented as his own idea and baby for over a decade was entirely stolen (story and characters/artwork) from a pitch from a Pixar employee who got pennies only after suing them.

The original art for the Cars pitch by Jorgen Klubien.

disneyixar_-_embed_2018.jpg

How much of a "genius" is he? From all accounts he's a common thief and a sexist. Skydance animation should be ashamed of hiring him.

The only people that "believe" in Lasseter are those select few that happened to be lucky enough to become friends with him.

The only reason he got hired by Skydance is pure desperation and for them to get a discount on an animation executive who tarnished his entire career and reputation. They should be ashamed of hiring an employee with so many documented issues.
After watching Luck, now I finally have the answer on why John Ratznburger suddenly stopped doing voice cameos for recent Pixar films. Hes currently at Skydance alongside Brad Bird.

How was the movie?
It was mediocre, although the best parts would have to be when Ratzenburg's character (forgot his name but it was large root that runs a bar in the land of Badluck) showed up midway through the film alongside the storyline focused on Sam's relationship with an orphaned girl.

While it's to early to judge, Luck isn't the best introduction to the studio's filmography. If anything, I preferred their animated short "Blush" which was an allegory on coping with someone with terminal illness. Specifically breast cancer and based on a true story from one of the members of Skydance.

I will explain more later.

Wow…World of Color truly elevates the park I fully can’t imagine the park without it, it’s breathtaking. Videos nor photos do it justice whatsoever the colors were so vibrant, the movements graceful, just all so grandiose. I ended up seeing both showings using my virtual queue for the first showing, and after seeing people in the distance by Lamplight Lounge I did the same for the second showing. From either angle the show is breathtaking, and brought me close to tears of joy something only Indiana Jones Adventure and my steps onto Resort property have caused me to do. No actual tears yet, let’s see if that changes tomorrow with my final day.

Most of my grievances were aired out earlier, and one positive thing is there were an abundance of PhotoPass spots at DCA in comparison to Disneyland. Still though both pale in comparison to Disney World’s options, but I get it different demographics for guests so less demand for PhotoPass.

Cast Members varied more today but it’s a hot day I get it, but surprisingly some CMs remembered me! We did PhotoPass yesterday at the train station, and wouldn’t you know it? THE SAME PHOTOGRAPHER over at the Hyperion, shout out to AJ (What they were falled by the CM directing us at Disneyland) for remembering me and jogging my memory on them! Later on in World of Color a CM started with welcome stopped and said oh welcome back! Unfortunately didn’t remember her but thanks 😅 The last shoutout goes to the Lighting Lane CM at Soarin who let me go through even though my LL had expired two hours prior

Overall a good day at DCA with the standout being World of Color alongside Mission Breakout and Radiator Springs. Only thing missing is Jack Jack on the Stick shaped Cotton Candy and the park would be golden 😉

Pre 2019 I remember Disneyland having a lot more photopass photographers all around the park. When Galaxy's Edge came out a lot of CMs spoke about how their photopass coworkers were let go.
