Sharing my co-workers experience visiting Disneyland on Monday. They were here from St. Louis as an exhibitor at Monsterpalooza over the weekend and decided to stay and spend Monday at Disneyland. They arrived at 10am and bought Genie+ to set the stage.

Got G+ for HM (their favorite ride) and immediately went to Rise of the Resistance. Posted time was 1 hour and 20 minutes. They waited over 2 hours and finally got on. Not a good start.

The rest of their day was a mess.

HM broken down during their G+ time, came back later and it broke down again while riding.
In line twice for Indy, breaks down twice. Never got to ride it.
Riding Buzz, has a break down
Riding Matterhorn, it breaks down and they are escorted off
Got a corn dog from the Red Wagon, they are burnt

The only positive was they got to see Fantasmic. The rest of the day ended up being a colossal waste of time and money. What a cluster, felt really bad for them but shows how poor the maintenance can be at times out here.
I wish I could get escorted off of the Matterhorn, but obviously for the everyday visitor that's an awful experience. My only ever big breakdown was getting stuck in the air on Soarin' Over California. We were up there for about 30 minutes or so, but I was curious what their process would be for an evacuation if they could not get the system to drop back down.

That sounds crazy how many break downs they experienced in one day, I am not a frequent visitor anymore by any means, I used to go once a year with my family when I was younger, but I can't remember a single instance of having more than 2 breakdowns in a day for a ride I was either on or in line for. I feel bad for them and hope they can go again some time in the future and have a better experience but I wouldn't blame them if this left a sour taste in their mouth and they decide not to return any time soon.

Yeah, to say the park’s been a mess, especially lately is an obvious understatement. Went a couple weeks back, and multiple attractions were down throughout my visit. HM, then Indy, IASW, Grizzly River Run seemed to be down almost all day, and then Incredicoaster. It doesn’t help when multiple other attractions are also out for refurbishments at the same time

Between these reports and the news of Radiator Springs having to be closed due to smoke last weekend, it seems like maintenance is a joke.

Man, the park smells like sewage tonight.

LMAO as I was writing this comment, Fantasmic has been cancelled — 3 minutes into the show!! Talk about poor maintenance. People are livid.

Matterhorn walk off happened to me once, was pretty cool to see the inside of the mountain.

Yeah, someone said there was a projection issue? Should not happen at all but within 2 weeks of reopening?

And don't get me started on the whole Fireworks situation. Seems like they are cancelled more often now...they were when we were there last Thursday and I guess again over the weekend or earlier this week. Darn "winds at higher elevations"....because there was zero wind down at Main Street level.

The thing is visit to Disney is expensive. You're charged left and right for everything.
It's long gone...which is why we bought the cheapest Magic Key. I wasn't willing to spend anything more than that for an unknown experience. My concerns have been proven out (at least for us).
The way I see it, you are telling them you approve of their actions by buying ANY annual pass. The best way to make things better is to not give them any money and encourage others to do the same.

“The strength of The Walt Disney Company’s businesses coming out of the pandemic is a testament to Bob’s leadership and vision for the company’s future. In this important time of business growth and transformation, we are committed to keeping Disney on the successful path it is on today, and Bob and his leadership team have the support and confidence of the Board,” Arnold said. (Susan Arnold, Disney's chairman of the board of directors)

So, the board just gave Chapek a thumbs up and then he fired the head of their TV division.

The rumor mill is saying:
  • the "thumbs up" is akin to what happens in sports and might indicate he will be out early next year when his contract is up
  • the firing of Peter Rice is a defensive maneuver by Chapek to get rid of a potential heir apparent (making it harder for Bobby to be ousted)
I have no insight on any of this, but found it interesting gossip. Do we take the board at its word, or is the rumor mill right? Your thoughts?

At beginning of last Fall I regretted buying Believe Keys after a couple of slammed October visits but we’ve had a pretty good trips then so I think we made a good choice. I like going on Saturdays and having Sundays to recover. No matter how you chop it up, Disneyland is still a great value. It’s expensive out here in So Cal. Where else can you ride a Star Wars roller coaster, eat lunch overlooking a river with boats going by (Fowlers Harbor) and entertain the kids and parents simultaneously on rides like Casey Junior all in one afternoon? All while getting some sun and a few thousand steps in at a park with tons of trees and beautiful gardens.

I also think I’ve officially become desensitized to crowds. I don’t necessarily see as much value in the Imagine pass since weekdays are just as busy weekends these days for the most part. It also helps having a few veteran tricks to make the most out of your day.

This a hundred times.

Vote with your wallets, folks. Money is the only language the company listens to.

The parks are absolutely slammed at all times. Massive lines for $30 parking and overpriced merch. I’m all for abstaining from visiting out of disgust with the current state of things, but Chapek is not noticing a single person voting with their wallet.

That is because most of the people on this forum and others are still doing it. I've never understood the "I hate this place but I'll still go into debit to go there" attitude.

If the internet decided that Disney parks are for little kids, the parks would be empty like they were pre-2000s. People always ruin a good thing.
