I witnessed some truly shameful "customer service" at Disneyland when I visited back in December. It kind of left me wondering about the thoroughness of CM training these days.

I suspect CM morale is (at an all-time?) low, and in some pockets there may even be something of a climate of hostility toward guests and park management. I think there may be valid reasons for that. I also think it's valid for a guest, having paid $160 simply to enter the park, to feel frustrated and cheated when a CM treats them like a burden or afterthought.

That said, I made a Trader Sam's reservation (did the 3am thing) in December as well and had a fantastic experience. It was a busy Friday night but my wife and I were seated immediately and received great service. My Zombie was strong as hell and my Tiki, Tiki, Tiki, Tiki, Tiki Rum was a perfect cream of coconut tiki drink. Loved the vibe in there. Good stuff, but that level of quality (both the food and the service) was an anomaly during my DLR visit.

Glad to hear your Sams experience was good but that's unfortunate about the general decline in customer service everywhere.

I know people treat CMs like gods in the fanbase, but either the lack of training or morale is absolutely having a huge effect on them.

It's not even only about wages. I see tons of minimum wage employees at stores or food places in the LA area and they act just fine and provide good customer service.

Disney is probably stretching their workforce too thin or slacking on training/standards.

Can't imagine the staff reductions do anything more than stress the remaining workforce.

I have to feel that in-park guest satisfaction is much lower after the introduction of Lighting Lane. Especially by people purchasing LL and then standing in a long line.

I’ve purchased Genie + a few times and wait times with lightning lane have averaged 10-15 minutes for all of the attractions. With that said I would be glad if it all came to an end. I would say they should just make most of the Genie + rides a la carte options but I worry that most people would still pay and it would just become the new norm.

I went twice last year before Diaper Genie and the lines were awesome. Even if they were 40+ minutes at least they moved. Twitter has had some posts with ridiculous lines for LL.

New Magic Key reservation slots just dropped for the first two weeks of May, which I'm thrilled for as that's the earliest I'll be able to see the nighttime entertainment. Also will be going a day after I see Multiverse of Madness, so here's hoping they finally have Scarlet Witch walking round at Avengers Campus.

I mentioned this before in this thread a fe months ago, but I got literally yelled at by an it's a small world cast member. I am not someone who complains about customer service, EVER, and I was pretty upset. This lady was yelling at me to put my nephew's mask on when we weren't even near the ramp to go down to queue up on the numbers. He was eating a little snack and he knew he had to put his mask on when the time came. Well after some back and forth (I am really very patient and it takes a lot for me to get frustrated), she snapped at me, "are you even OLD ENOUGH to take him by yourself?!" And finally I snapped back as nicely as possible that I was 34 and I made him put his mask on earlier than usual. She must have thought i was 12 or 13. I was mortified. My niece and nephew it was hilarious. They teased me in that lady's horrible voice for the rest of the trip. I completely understand asking people who don't want to Cooperate the same thing over and over is terrible, but we were cooperating! It was awful! My nephew is a big for his age kid (he wasn't even 3 yet) and this mean lady was yelling at him!

I’m not going to say my son would rather do homework but he was about 10x more excited to to see Sonic 2 at the movies last Saturday.
My son would rather go see Fantastic Beasts The Secrets of Dumbledore than Disneyland.

If it was a choice between Universal Studios and Disneyland, he would probably chose Universal Studios because of Harry Potter and the Transformers. He is a huge fan of both of those.

Makes sense. There have been times where I asked my son where he would rather go, DL or USH and he said Studios. I imagine it’s not because he’s likes it more but because its its been a longer time between visits so he’s more excited.

But homework? Haha. That’s a different thing entirely.

When I was a kid, we would do Disneyland and San Diego/Sea World/Zoo once a year mostly for relatives visiting. Knotts, USH and MM were much more rare. Then again, I was obsessed with Pirates back then so Disneyland was a blast.

My friend has a friend that works at Universal Creative and apparently Simpsons land is toast at USH (Thank God). He didn’t say what they re replacing it with but I’d imagine based on its location it would be more Harry Potter. It’s not that much land though. Could they fit Gringotts there?

I’m not sure if this well known info I just thought I’d mention it here. I’m not really in the loop with USH rumors. It sounds plausible as Simpsons land is terrible, Disney owns it and the contract is ending(?) and there are much better ways they could use that land.

I’d love to see the land go away and be replaced with more Harry Potter as the aesthetic is much more pleasant. Not to mention more trees.

For us it was always Disneyland and Universal. Universal mostly for relatives visiting from Italy. My grandma lived in NoHo so Universal was right up the street. Early - Mid 90s was peak USH. Old tram tour with AA Kong. E.T. Back 2 the Future. Jurassic Park.

I'd like to see it used for classic monsters. Imagine if it was turned into Castle Dracula and Springfield turned into some village. What does Epic Universe got for a ride?
