My friend has a friend that works at Universal Creative and apparently Simpsons land is toast at USH (Thank God). He didn’t say what they re replacing it with but I’d imagine based on its location it would be more Harry Potter. It’s not that much land though. Could they fit Gringotts there?

I’m not sure if this well known info I just thought I’d mention it here. I’m not really in the loop with USH rumors. It sounds plausible as Simpsons land is terrible, Disney owns it and the contract is ending(?) and there are much better ways they could use that land.

I’d love to see the land go away and be replaced with more Harry Potter as the aesthetic is much more pleasant. Not to mention more trees.
I'm kind of sick of Universal relying so much on Harry Potter. The rides are well done and area is charming, but it's turning into how overdone Star Wars is in Disney parks for me.

I hope it's something else.

They should change it back to Back To The Future. It's sad how in the mid 2000s Universal replaced ET and Back To The Future, thinking they were dated, but those films are now seen as classics and instead the rides that replaced them are dated.

I say Harry Potter because I know I like the atmosphere and the attention to detail will be there. I can’t say I’m sick of Harry Potter in Universal parks as I’ve only experienced Wizarding World at USH. The land is charming but the ride left me a bit underwhelmed. I’d welcome an expansion into Simpsons land. I have a feeling I’d like Gringotts much more than Forbidden Journey.

I guess as a not Harry Potter fan it's just a series that I can appreciate as one small area of a themepark, but it seems to be consuming Universal Orlando, and Universal Creative.

Just like Star Wars, I feel that movie based areas should be limited.

Yeah I get that but at the end of the day any thing replacing Simpsons land is a huge upgrade. Especially a land with atmosphere and trees.

I view Harry Potter at USH differently than I do Star Wars. USH has always been a hodge podge of stuff and the park has always been based on the movies. Also any addition of actual fully themed areas in USH is welcome.

I didn’t like Gringotts nearly as much as Forbidden Journey, but Diagon Alley is stunningly good. In fact that’s what really got me interested and curious in what’s coming soon to theme parks and that’s when I stumbled upon this website. If they build Gringotts I hope they build the whole Diagon Alley.

There wouldn’t be room in the Simpsons area right?

No not really. They would have to relocate the escalators and build the Gringotts building partially on the hill or change the layout so I’m not sure the financial people would let it happen. Here’s some very rough screenshots I just took, the top one is Diagon Alley and the bottom is USH.

I see. But but but what if they knocked down the Special effects stage and animal actors stage?

Yeah, then I have no doubt there’s physically enough room. They‘d still have to move some roads and escalators around and build on the hills a bit, and maybe put the tram tour entrance in Hogsmeade/Hogwarts next to Forbidden Journey (as odd as that would be) because Diagon Alley is very dead-end-ish by nature. But I’d love to see it happen!

Yeah they would have to get creative with the layout even though there appears to be room.

It’s such a tease going to Universal Studios and hearing E.T or Back 2 the Future music and not having any attraction representing those movies.

Here’s my idea Universal. Spice up the Tram Tour by adding new show buildings (and use the Fast n Furious building) with Back 2 the Future, ET and some classic Monsters attractions etc. Hell do something with Casper too. Compete with Disney and play up those nostalgic properties. Also the Tram tour has become a bit long in tooth so it could use some new (non cheesy) life. Also bring back a Kong AA.

Replacing ET was probably one of the biggest errors the park made. Mummy may be one of the most mediocre rides in the park and it has aged poorly.

While I liked BTTF the simulator technology continues to show its age. Would be better if they just had a mini stunt show take place for the tram tour in front of the clock tower when the Hill Valley sets aren’t in use for filming.

Good idea for BTTF. Only problem is these days they never seem to take you through there anymore. I’ve gone on the tram tour 3 times since last May and I’m 0 for 3.

They just need some of those movies represented in one way or another.

If Simpsons really is going, then that’s excellent news. However, I don’t want to see the area as an extension of Potter.

I love Universal, but what bothers me most about them is the fact that they very rarely incorporate their material into the park. They used to, but now those attractions are gone. I understand wanting to remove certain attractions based on older movies, to an extent, but they’ve replaced attractions based on some of their most iconic movies and I don’t understand. Universal is sitting on a gold mine of films. I wish they would take advantage of their own library.

We only go once a year for HHN so I don’t know how long it’s been since I’ve done the tour when it wasn’t terror tram… but the metro sets and backstage is one of the best parts.

The park needs to lean more into nostalgia. I’m pleasantly surprised at least Water World and Jaws still remain. I do eventually want to try SLOP, but will probably just wait for Nintendo to get a day ticket.

I’m not a huge fan of SLOP even if it has one of the best acronyms. Welcome addition to the park but I’d rank every single dark ride at DLR above it.
