I’ve taken 6 first time riders on Smugglers Run and not one of them has walked away impressed. As far as the ride experience goes, it has to be one of the biggest disappointments in Disney theme park history when you consider the expectations.

I've ridden it with a few groups of first timers as well, and have had similar results.

However, I've ridden it with one person who genuinely loved it. When I went with my cousin a few months ago, it was the main thing he wanted to do and the first ride he did.

The kid was a huge Star Wars fan, and at 12 he had grown up with the Clone Wars, Prequel Trilogy, and Sequel Trilogy. And he had never been to a theme park like Disneyland before, so he had no frame of reference for a highly themed ride. So basically the perfect audience for the Falcon ride. He was in awe over the whole thing and had a great time, and he chose to spend most of the day in Star Wars Land. Doing the Savi's Lightsaber building with him is one of my top Disneyland memories ever- there's something aspirational about what a lightsaber represents in Star Wars and pop culture in general, and seeing a kid fighting cancer who loved crafting build one was a very special experience.

Wait there's another variant?

You're supposed to wait until after we've heard a word from our sponsor. And after we go to Skip in the ActionWeather7StormCenter about possible morning beach fog on Friday. Then you can be Officially Scared And Afraid about the next variant.

Until then...

Why does Rocket say “is that Disneyland, that’s thematically inconsistent” on Mission Breakout if the backstory by Joe Rohde was that the Collectors Fortress just KABLAM’d from space and landed in DCA?
Didn't we discuss this many times back in 2017 when Mission Breakout opened?

To me its a fun self-referential joke, sort of a fun Easter egg like Harold or Figment in the queue, for hardcore theme park fans.

Funny Disneyland-Related Story:

So I was driving back from Ralph's Fresh Fare today, and I took the long route home to snoop on a house for sale that has been extensively remodeled and yet is asking way too much on the MLS, in my opinion. 🧐

As I was driving down a street I don't normally see, there were two little girls running a lemonade stand in their front yard. I immediately pulled a U-turn, because I have a hard and fast rule: I ALWAYS stop for lemonade stands, because it teaches young children the valuable lessons of the beauty of work and American Free Enterprise. And, it's cute as hell!

I had the top down as it was a gorgeously warm spring day and I waved and said hello, but before I could barely put it in Park and step out, the older girl had already run up to my passenger door with a styrofoam cup full of iced lemonade. Her younger sister was doing wild acrobatics on the lawn with the handmade sign that said "Fresh Lemonade - 25 Cents". I was kind of suprised it was only 25 cents; I thought the going rate nowadays was 50 cents. I handed her a dollar bill, then this business exchange happened:

Industrious Little Girl: "Okay, your change is 75 cents..." and she starts fishing around for 3 Quarters.
Kindly Old TP2000: "Please keep the change as a tip, young lady."
Industrious Little Girl: "Oh, no! That's too much!"
Kindly Old TP2000: "No it's not. You proactively came up to my car with the lemonade, I didn't even have to get out."
Industrious Little Girl: "Yeah, but I just love doing this!"
Kindly Old TP2000: "At Disneyland, they used to call that 'World Class Guest Service', so it deserves a big tip!"
Industrious Little Girl: "Ohhhhh! Okay!"
Industrious Little Girl's Mom Supervising: "Bwaahahahahaha!" 🤣

Meanwhile, the youngest sister was still doing wild acrobatics on the lawn for no one in particular with the sign.

Always, always, ALWAYS, stop at a child's lemonade stand! You'll be glad you did. :)

These Disneyland food vloggers are terrible. They can never say anything negative without saying something positive about the item before or after. If something downright sucks just say it. A recent fave of mine is when they are reviewing a a very dry looking double cheeseburger. “It’s full of flavor but it’s just too dry.” So by full of flavor do you mean the ketchup, Mayo, lettuce, American cheese and bun then?

I would like to confirm that you can indeed tell a CM that you prefer not to sit next to a single rider on an attraction. I did it a couple months back on RSR.

Sorry but not sorry Single Riders. I mean you guys do you and I support your desire to Single Ride but I’m going to also do me. Haha. I spend 2.5 hours to get to and from the parks and stand in lines all day to be on rides for a grand total of probably 20 minutes for the entire day. Some of the rides are seated a bit too intimately to truly enjoy 100% with a stranger next to you.

I agree about Disney food vloggers. Generally, any review they give simply can’t be trusted, at least not by me, personally. Everything is positive and great, 99.9% of the time with vloggers. I just try the food myself and take my own word for it.

Regarding single rider, as an extrovert who enjoys talking to strangers, I have no problem sitting close to strangers on rides.

Yeah I’m not actually watching for the reviews but only to see what new foods are at the parks. I realized I eat the same 4 or 5 things all the time. Like you said they re not honest and most of them don’t know anything about food.

Im an introvert in extroverts clothing. Im very personable, polite and can hold long conversations with Strangers but rarely enjoy it or feel like the exchange is genuine. When it comes to the rides I would just rather not have to think twice about turning my head or if I want to scream. I don’t want to be conscious of any of that.

Same. I don't catch every single new thing in the parks, especially food, so if a recommended video pops up in my YouTube feed about new food, I'll take a quick glance of curiosity to see what the foods look like, but I don't actually listen to the commentary.

I understand. Most of my friends are introverts. I definitely get wanting to just keep to your party/people you know for rides.

I am a total introvert who loved single rider. I was good at staying in my personal bubble while riding. The ride I SR'd only once was Goofy's Sky School. There was no way to avoid touching/slamming into your seatmate. I used it mostly on Racers.
