Well I never thought you’d go to WDW before me but have a good time! Lol
Seriously, neither did I! Lol it was the same thing with Galaxy’s Edge. I was the main one complaining and whining about it, and I ironically was one of the first to go and see it. LMAO.

To be fair, I’m only going because I’m already going to be out there. One of my best friends lives in Cocoa Beach and is getting married, so I’ll be there for her bachelorette festivities. I figured I’d drop by MK before going home. Had I not been going out there for my friend, I would not be going to WDW lol.

What happened to your plans? Weren’t you planning a WDW trip? What happened?

Nice!! That should be a fun trip.

Yeah so far I’m 0 for 3 on WDW planning. The first time I was seriously considering going was after I got a nice severance package in Spring 2018 and I was even flirting of the idea of a cross country rode trip. We ended up deiciding against it as my son was the (Terrible) 2.5 at the time and we couldn’t go through a 10 minute drive without a tantrum. We ultimately ended up going to Maui that year.

The next time was like last February. We had even booked it and paid the deposit. Keep in mind this is when DL was still closed here. We were so desperate for entertainment we were about to fly to Florida (with all the craziness and resurrections going on) with our 6 month old and 5 year old at the time. We ended up cancelling as my bro in law works free lance and got a job he couldn’t pass up. I was only going to go if another couple came with us as I wasn’t about to single ride everything on my first trip to WDW.

Most recently we thought we were going this coming January for my wife’s best friends wedding who was getting married there. They ended up changing plans so that’s not happening either.

As much as I want to and keep flirting with the idea I know it doesn’t make sense with my kids being so young right now. I mean if we re going to do it we’re going to do it big: I’m an all of nothing kind of guy so 8-10 days with the kids at WDW might be rough. I mean their are trips where we leave a 10 hour day at Disneyland feeling wrecked! So if I need to have a down day after every park day that trip is going to get really expensive and really long fast. Especially at a Deluxe Hotel.

Gotcha. It sounds like something comes up every time you try and plan a trip.

It also sounds like it would be best to wait until your kids are older. I understand how hard it can be with kids (I took my nephews once years ago…first and last time). The good news is WDW is not going anywhere. As long as you’re alive and well, you can always plan to go and do it big.🙌🏾

You'll be extra prepared and know exactly what you want to do and get out of your trip when you do get there, though. That'll be extraordinarily helpful.

A tremendous advantage over Johnny Tourist who thinks Harry Potter must be somewhere behind the castle.

Is it just me and my algorithm, or has theme park Twitter gotten truly insufferable lately? A never ending miasma of outrage, negativity and fan rage. Every day recently there’s some new controversy that they swirl themselves into performative outrage over.

I know that describes social media in a nut shell, but it’s never felt this bad in the theme park community until recently.

Cocoa Beach is right next to Kennedy Space Center. You have to take the tour. I did lots of launches and space shuttle stuff there over 20 years.

Honestly it's weird, it seemed like for the last 5-6 years everything fan based online related to Disney was way too overly positive and cheesy. Everyone it seemed was drinking the kool aid so to speak. This site and Micechat being the exceptions.

Then I think sometime around Genie being released it seemed everyone 180'd. Honestly as annoying as the koolaid drinkers on social media were, the negativity is way worse.

Being in the middle / normal is the best though.

But all the people calling each Disney announcement or project a HUGE DISASTER need to get a life.

If your only stake in something is to hope for it's failure, it's time to move on.

I think Galactic Starcruiser is a good example of this trend; it was I think the first project I'd seen where it was almost universally viewed with cynicism (I'd include myself in that group). Even DisTwitter was up in arms over it, and usually you'd find a more even split for new projects (Pixar Pier is a project that deserves a lot of dislike but even it had its defenders on Twitter). Even when the experience turned out to be much better than first previewed, it hasn't shaken off that initial impression.

It's fine to judge things as more information comes out about it, but it's extremely foolish to dig your heels in early on.

Haha! I was super against Galaxy's Edge and I'd bet I rode Rise of the Resistance before anyone on this forum.

But Also that one time was enough and I only do it so I'm not 'that guy' in my group when I go with friends. Even though I already kind of am 'that guy' when it comes to Disneyland 😂😂😂
