What ever happen to the user named Witches of Morva? He use to carry on conversations as each character. That guy was funny. He even knew what a planter was besides a brand of peanuts.
I remember that guy from when I was a kid! I can't remember what forum it was but it was years ago...

Some quick thoughts after my trip. Thanks for those who gave tips. Overall, I liked DLR. Its certainly different from WDW but I don’t think that’s a bad thing

1. I didn’t realize the castle was so much smaller than DW. That definitely was a surpise

2. I had read this before but DL pirates blows away WDW. From leaving to New Orleans to the extra scenes, it was awesome. I’ve seen the new auction scene in WDW previously but that really does me off.

3. New Orleans Square in generally was really sweet. If I ever go back and actually plan the trip in advance, I really want to go to the Bayou restaurant

4. I was surprised how wet you get on Splash. I really liked the drops and the extra song but the pace of the boat didn’t allow me to fee like I was intrenched into the story as much.

5. I was disappointed in BTR. We requested the back to make sure we weren’t missing something but I just didn’t feel like you get wipped around like you do at MK

6. I enjoyed the rides that are not at MK. Alice, Snow White, Mr Toad, and Indiana Jones were all good. Story book was okay. It was really nice to enjoy Snow White again. It did suck that Matterhorn was closed but what can you do

7. DCA was interesting. Overall, some good rides but some of the park just doesn’t feel right to me. I feel like Grizzly Peak and Cars Land are well done but Pier area is still kinda of weird to me.

8. Grizzly River is a lot better than the rapids at AK. Single Rider was clutch here. Same for Rotator Springs. I can’t believe people wait two hours for it. Overall, Rotator Springs is well done.

9. I have not seen guardians of the galaxy but the ride concept and the theming is bad. The actual motion of the ride is quite good though. If they really intend having it part of the unnamed Marvel land, they need to do more with the theming

10. I know fast pass is controversial but as someone who is constantly playing with fast pass at WDW, not being able to modify fast passes was an adjustment. Still feel like 10 bucks for MaxPass was worth it. I did kinda of like you can’t do the fast pass until you are in the park. This does make it better for everyone and doesn’t require you to stay on the property.

11. Fatasmic off of Small World while different, is a not touch.

Overall, considering this was a last second trip after the hurricane in Hawaii, things worked out really well and I am glad I finally got out to DLR. I will definitely make the trip again in the future and I would recommend it to others as well.

That reminds me, does anybody remember Capt. Hook from Micechat? He was an AP who went to the park solely for characters, mostly princesses, would write trip reports about them everytime and bragged about being "friends" with the girls who played the princesses. Seemed like a really nice guy but disappeared one day.

The last I heard of him was he couldn't afford an AP pass anymore. That was in 2016. Looks like he is banned from Micechat in 2017. Looks like he had some "opinions" about Dusty, micechat moderators and support.

For those that aren't on reddit, someone posted this beautifully restored home video of Disneyland in '56.

The comment section was especially interesting, with one Disney "historian" erroneously saying that the footage was actually from late '57 early '58.

At 3:15, you can see people fishing off of Tom Sawyer's Island. That was only available from June-August in '56. I'd guess that this was likely July or August since the Skyway opened that June 23.

Also notice that the Castle doesn't have the lion crest. And the far more subdued pinks, and much more use of grey in the castle's paint.

You can see hinges in the dumbo ears, those were intended to flap but the effect didn't work as intended (the motors inside weren't strong enough IIRC). One of those things that very few people saw working.

Lots to digest in this video. Was surprised that there was footage of the fishing.

He didn't disappear, there was some major drama on there about him before and after he left iirc

The Last Jedi will be seen as a great movie by the majority of the Star Wars fan base in 20 years once the kids who grew up with the films become nostalgic.
If Disney & Lucasfilms keep making SW films as lousy as "The Last Jedi," the SW fans base will be quite a bit smaller 20 years from now. With Force Awakens, everyone forgave its copycat plot and weaknesses because they were starved for a "real" non-sequel SW movie. People went to Last Jedi hoping it would be more original and expand on Force Awakens in a satisfying way. Ep. 9 had better be amazing, or the franchise will have to reboot everything with Ep. 10. At this point, no one cares what happens to anyone in the current trilogy, which is a shame, because Rey, Finn and Poe were potentially really likable characters when they were introduced.
