I have to admit it... I wouldn’t mind if the park converted a couple of counter service places (themed and with non-intrusive signage!) to McDonald’s or Jack in the Box offerings* until the park can produce decent burgers on its own.

*But at reasonable real world prices this time!

IN-N-Out at Flo’s. Chik Fil A at Hungry Bear. McDonalds at Tomorrowland Terrace. I could live without Jack. But seriously, if a counter service spot at Disneyland is twice as expensive and half as good as a fast food joint I have no problems with them converting as long they are tastefully done. No pun intended. They would still be more expensive but at least it would taste better.

BTW I know you will disagree about Flo’s. Haha

Naw, even though I’m personally not crazy about In n Out’s burgers, they’re miles better than the parks’ own efforts. Plus, In n’ Out fits both the California and car culture themes!

Exactly. In N Out would fit great there. All 3 of the places I mentioned have a lot of seating and very often only half full or less (TL Terrace less so). In a park that could use extra capacity (and better burgers) I think it would be a Win Win.

Speaking of good burgers, last night the Slaters 50/50 at our mall FINALLY opened and you best believe I went (take-out though cause I'm still not wanting to be around people).

I tried it at the Pasadena location when they opened way back. First I loved it, second time not so much. I remember my take away being that I’m not fond of pork meat in my burger.

Aw man :/ I think the 50/50 bacon beef blend is amazing. Though when I re-read their menu yesterday, the majority of their burgers seem to be made with Black Angus beef instead. I'd always go for a customized burger though.

Still, nothing touches their sweet potato fries with pumpkin sauce... :hungry:

Hahah it was so long ago. I don’t remember all the details but I’m glad you enjoyed it. I think the first time I went I ordered an all beef burger by mistake and then “corrected” it the next time. I love beef. Im more of a fan of pork when it’s deli meat or sausage/ bacon. So basically, it’s cured and breakfast meat forms.

You're making me hungry again... lol.

I think the best burger I've ever had (quality wise) was in Prague at a bistro called Dish.
But it's weird too because in the right context, I can also really enjoy a McDonald's burger.

Oh me too. I totally just appreciate things for what they are and have the ability to keep them in their own category. I have an uncle who is a foodie and has treated me to a lot of great meals and introduced me to a lot of great restaurants. From fine dining to hole in the walls. (Most of the time I prefer the hole in the walls). Sometimes it feels though that he’s gotten to a point where every time he eats something he’s kind of subconsciously comparing it to a better version of the same thing he’s had elsewhere. Maybe at a certain point you ve tried so many different foods/ restaurants that you can’t help but compare? I always tell people I don’t go to McDonalds for a great burger. I go to McDonalds for McDonalds. For that specific taste. Now with that said, they ve jumped up a few notches for me ever since they ve been cooking those quarter pounders to order.

Totally. I'm the same way. Not a foodie by any stretch, but know people who are. It's hard to go out to eat with them sometimes though because they'll hype the heck out of things, then when they get their food they say, "oh, this wasn't as good as it was last time" and I'm sitting there thinking... what's wrong with it? It's fine!

What I prefer is having friends who can cook great food. My brother-in-law got a smoker last year and has blessed us with many amazing creations such as smoked Cheez-its. He takes the crackers, tosses them in a dry rub and smokes them. Sounds crazy, but wow, they're amazing.

Lol my uncle says the same thing but so have I. I think it’s the fear of putting your name on the line and the quality of the food not matching the hype you put out. The truth is, it’s still human beings cooking the food and any given night the quality may not be the same. With that said the difference sometimes is so minor that maybe it’s not an A+ that day it’s an A-. Sometimes it could also be the fact that the second time for you personally can’t match the first time because it was a unique experience the first time around.

Those smoked cheez-its sound 🔥🔥. Cheez-its are my krypotnite and a box doesn’t last more than a night or two at my house. Have you noticed that not all boxes are the same though. Sometimes they have that ultra cheesy toasty taste and sometimes they are more on the bland side.

Very true.

I've found that to happen with a lot of other things too. Movies, music, TV, and especially Disneyland. It's one thing to hype the park to a first-timer, hoping they'll see exactly what you see in the whole experience, but the reality is it doesn't always work out, and sometimes what they attach to are the things you'd never do unless you were there with a first-timer. It's kind of hard not to take it personally either, but it's important to remember it's all just subjective opinion.

Honestly, it's been a while since I've had just a normal box of Cheez-Its, so I can't say for certain. Now I'm gonna have to go get one and do some... uh, research!

Tell me about it. Did a trip to DL with my cousin, his GF and my wife a couple years ago. All my cousins GF could talk about for 2 days was how nothing was thrilling enough for her and how great Magic Mountain is. It sucked because I could tell my cousin was bummed that it didn’t turn out into the experience he had expected with her.

They ve since broken up. I question someone who doesn’t like Disneyland. I had another one of my cousins ask their girlfriend what their favorite ride was. When he told me her answer was Pirates of the Caribbean I said “that’s a classy answer, she’s a keeper. Marry that girl.” They also broke up.

What is wrong with the formatting of posts lately. Some posts have a big blank spot while others don't. It would help if the site had an option to look at the html of the post so you can remove any bad formatting. That remove formatting button is useless.

I thought the same thing. But nope even with the ad blocker turned off it still displays the blank spot on some posts and no ad. And once its there it never goes away, so that leads me to believe its not ad related. This site acts weird sometimes.

Revealed today: The much-loved old N64 themepark ride/photography game “Pokemon Snap” is (finally) getting a sequel on Nintendo Switch. Predating and foreshadowing rides like Buzz Lightyear and Tokyo’s Monster’s Inc., Pokemon Snap put you in a vehicle riding on rails through colorful landscapes—armed with a camera instead of a laser gun or flashlight—trying to get shots of elusive creatures who would appear briefly and suddenly along the route. Your photos got judged on rarity and composition. Can not wait for this sequel! 😃

Pokemon Snap was my first game on my first console (N64 obviously) because at the time my parents couldn't afford to get my brothers and I a GameCube, so I have no idea how old it was at that time, I think it came out in 2000 and I remember playing when I was about 8, so about 8 years after release. I love that game so much because it sparked my love for video games and it reminds me of the old Jungle Cruise minigame from VMK (which did come out after Pokemon Snap to be fair) and is the only way I make credits on the remake MyVMK. I am 100% going to be picking the game up when it releases to relive a bit of that childhood nostalgia and it will hopefully be another casual game to add to my collection of games to relax with. I mainly only play Animal Crossing to do daily chores every so often but other than that I play World of Warcraft and Smash Bros Ultimate, so not really games to play while trying to relax and chill 🤣
