The Miscellaneous Thought Thread

OK. For me though I guess I wouldn’t consider it “dead” before the Mummy was released since they were all gung-ho about it leading up to that point. Even shooting publicity shots with Johnny Depp, Javier Bardem, etc. I think once the Mummy proved to be a dud they reconsidered their approach and pulled the plug.

Though a non-shared universe take on The Invisible Man is still on its way.
If Mummy had done better we'd be having another conversation. But the writing was on the wall the moment they took out Untold from the universe, and then audiences nailed the coffin.

Yes, they were going to continue with standalone films. We'll see how far that gets. I just don't know if audiences are really all that interested in the Universal Monsters at this point.

I’m a horror buff so I’m the wrong person to speculate their general popularity. But for me, the Universal Monster collection is just filled with classic characters. They’re kind of timeless and can be thought of almost like fairy tales.

And I agree which is why this idea of trying to make a CU out of it was flawed. Everyone is just trying to cash in on the MCU success and ultimately that is a bad idea.

I think the gp could def be interested in the classic monsters if Universal actually knew what to do with them. They keep trying to force action-horror onto these characters instead of keeping true to form. Im personally not interested in seeing Tom cruise flip and jump around Egypt or super hero Dracula.

sorry I'm going off on a bit of a tangent, but this reminded me of a comment I saw on a Rocketman youtube review, had to go back and screenshot it 😂

Well at least we are getting a Wolfman meets Frankenstein's monster maze at HHN. The classic movie monster maze last year was pretty scary.

I don’t think they will. If anything, I think this spurs Disney to make further additions or upgrades to the existing parks as space allows.
This spurs Disney to sit on their butts until a hundred committees all agree that Universal is drawing customers away. Disney then comes up with a counter plan, spends another 3 years in committee meetings, changes the plan, announces it, slashes the budget and then finally opens a new land based on an IP that was popular five years before containing a big ride, a small ride, a cafe, a shop, and a very expensive mechandise "experience." Prices for all parks go up 30%. Frozen 5 hits theaters.

Or Iger again develops an inferiority complex and drops a movie land into a park without consulting Walt Disney Imagineering.

Who still watches Fresh Baked pfft.

😉😛

Its much better now than before. Aside from Sara being gone the format is much better. Their is usually a subject that lets you know if you re interested in watching or not. As opposed to before where it was “watch this hour of random footage and there may be something you re interested in.” Which I didn’t do very often.

Do you guys ever feel like certain things you say end up on Fresh baked?
There’s a few things I’ve said that I’ve never seen written or spoken anywhere else that I’ve heard on the show.

We all know that guy posts here. He came out of hiding to chastise me when I called out Disney vlogger people years ago. Then he and a few (literally a few) of their followers downvoted my videos on YouTube.
