The Miscellaneous Thought Thread

I like the queue, ride feeling (well it's pretty much the same as ToT in my eyes), and music a lot. I don't like the screens, well I mean I don't hate them, I guess they're kinda just meh

Wow! How many years has this been since they converted this? Your all still stuck on the same discussion. Before that you all complained about how cheaply the ToT was built and how poor it looked compared to Florida's. I guess Disney geeks want what they can't have anymore even if they originally hated it.

You don’t control my miscellaneous thoughts, I do. Who’s “you all” anyway? I think I went to Disneyland 5-6 times during the 2000s. I went to DCA once in 2001 and didn’t step foot into it again until 2010. I had no idea (I do now of course) what the difference between the Towers were and have never been on the Florida version.

Check the fan reaction to the Tower of Terror in Disney from 2003. It was considered the best theming in all of DCA but that wasn't saying much. The ride was considered a complete disappointment compared to the Florida version and the lack of the fifth dimension room. Fans hated it even worst when Disney Sea got their highly themed version. We then hated the macronii glued on to the tower for GOTG.

Oh I don’t doubt it. Just speaking for myself (the TOT ambassador of the DL forum) since I brought up the original miscellaneous thought that kicked off a few TOT v. MB posts.

Anyway I don’t think any of the complainers on that particular subject from 2004 are on these forums right now. The most vocal people against MB on this forum are younger people who grew up with DCAs TOT.

Wake me up when they eventually announce what anything actually is.

Oh boy! Another nondescript theme park in Universal not bound or governed by any rules, thus giving it nothing unique beside its selection of attractions which could easily be interchanged with other Universal parks! Get excited!

The lands that are rumored (all but confirmed really) are Super Nintendo World, Fantastic Beasts, Universal Classic Monsters, amd How to Train Your Dragon. Theres other attractions in the hub and elsewhere but I haven’t seen what those are. Very strange layout for a park tbh.

I can guarantee you one thing... screens will be involved.

Honestly with the state side additions we’ve been getting recently I feel like this is the pot calling the kettle black
True...
But it gives me more reason to roll my eyes when they tout that it will be an “entirely new level of experience that forever changes theme park entertainment."

That Universal park has a horribly nondescript and redundant name as well as art that makes me more concerned about its design than excited for what’s to come. Granted, I’m glad they are expanding, and I wish them the best in operating three theme parks with no fundamental differences.

50 years ago the idea of a theme park vacation was unheard of. WDW pushed that idea into the norm by creating four distinct experiences. I’m not sure people will find it compelling to visit essentially different versions of the same thing three days in a row.

The year leading up to Walt’s death, and the year following his death, was arguably the most successful 24 months of Disneyland. It saw the opening of two new lands, NOS and New Tomorrowland, and a plethora of new attractions including “it’s a small world”, the Primeval World, Adventures thru Inner Space, Carousel of Progress, the Peoplemover, and finally Pirates of the Caribbean. I would still argue this aggressive investment is unrivaled. It makes one envious of a parallel universe where Walt lived a little longer and continued the trend of ambitious investments into the original Magic Kingdom. What would New Fantasyland have looked like under the supervision of the same Walt who oversaw the ‘66/‘67 Expansion? How would he have reimagined the Nature’s Wonderland if he made investments that rivaled New Tomorrowland into a New Frontierland.

It’s just such a shame he died just when things were starting to get good.

He would’ve spent all his money on the Experimental Prototype Community of Tomorrow, and if it failed, the company would’ve went bankrupt and Disneyland bought by an amusement park company. And as smart as Walt was, I’m not sure EPCOT would’ve been anything but a money pit. I actually think he died at exactly the best time.

Considering his track record (which is probably a better way to base our prediction than wild guesses) it’s much more likely that EPCOT would have been a huge success.
