Disney always changes things when they make their version but that does not change the fact that it is a Danish story.

The author was Danish, yes, but the original film wasn’t set in Denmark. Eric’s kingdom, which is in any case an unplaceable fantasy realm, has a Mediterranean rather than Nordic feel, as John Musker himself explains in the video commentary:

“That exterior of the palace Roland Wilson designed. He was a great draftsman; he designed the prince’s palace. He did a drawing that we loved that combined these sort of Mediterranean elements, uh, made it a palace unlike any other sort of Disney fairy tale palace, and uh, with the white-washed stucco, and was really going for a warm, southern Mediterranean feel that he thought would be attractive to a mermaid who had been stuck all her life in the cold ocean.”

That windmill says Denmark, though.

But Musker says otherwise. There are windmills all over the Mediterranean.

Again, it’s not a literal or identifiable setting. It’s a pastiche, but the overall feel of it isn’t Nordic. Just look at those palm trees.

Speaking of The Little Mermaid, I'm afraid the Beauty and the Beast ride at Tokyo Disneyland will be plagued by the same problems as The Little Mermaid in DCA. Not enough drama and just music filled. I think it'll be another piece of evidence that WDI is clueless about theme parks and budgets are not their problem.

Probably, but the animatronics and lack of plastic fish will be undeniably an improvement.

Remember back when WDI had flash and quality storytelling? Having just the flash makes it all so hollow and empty. There's no soul to their products anymore. It's all too corporate.
But I thought Tokyo didn’t get bad rides because the OLC spends so much money. It’s suppose to be the most perfect park in the whole world 🙃🤪

I actually do like Peter Parker but that's it. Flash Thompson not being a jock is lame. Mary Jane not being an iconic redhead is lame. Peter going to a school specifically for nerd sis lame. Not having Harry Osborne be Peter's best friend is lame. Spider-Man not swinging through New York is lame. Peter not making his own suit and just having it be a gift of Tony Stark is lame. The stuff that really makes Spider-Man Spider-Man just isn't there.

I agree the Spider-Verse is the best. I've heard the PS4 game is also great.

They're both love interests to Peter named MJ. She's a replacement for Mary Jane without being named Mary Jane. It's dumb.
You haven't seen Spider-Man: Far from Home yet have you? Some of your complaints are addressed in the film.

I'll wait till it's on DVD if I watch it. After Endgame, I feel the MCU has been wrapped up enough for me. Yeah, I'm sure Far From Home sets up something else, but the story of the MCU has been told and anything more they do will feel tacked on as far as I'm concerned. I've said it before and I'll say it again, the franchise financially peaked with Endgame. We'll never see that success for the MCU again and it'll just continue to go down in numbers.

I don't subscribe to that. Money doesn't solve WDI's ineptness.

Yup. Let Star Wars Land be the example. I thought Chapek was mostly to blame after GOTG:MB and Pixar Pier but SWL tells me the imagineers are to blame too.

I doubt Chapek had a mandate saying that GOTG: MB had to be an ugly museum/ power plant/ oil refinery etc. I doubt Chapek said Batuu needed to be a beige wasteland with no water features etc..

Not sure how the imagineers stood there on opening day with those silly smirks on their faces and thought people were going to be blown away? No music, no kinetic energy, one ride that’s only fun for 33.3% of riders, no water, no life, no entertainment. What the heck were they thinking?
They were thinking guests love Star Wars and Disneyland but not why guests love Star Wars or Disneyland.

What's the likelihood I could get an internship at WDI and work my way up?

They re so out of touch to think people would rather be immersed in a boring Star Wars world than go on fun rides and have emotional connections to things like music, entertainment and all the other stimuli found everywhere else at Disneyland except SWL. They need to fire Chapek and probably almost everyone at WDI.

Put Bob Gurr, Rolly Crump and mickEblu in charge.

In all honesty I'm pretty sure you need an engineering/design/art background to do anything at WDI.

But what do I know.
