Anyone else think this robot pouring fluid out of his bottle is one of the most impressive things at DL?

I am a bit surprised Zendaya didn't get the part as rumored... for a few reasons.

She has a working relationship with Disney... and has for years, from Disney Channel to her part in the Marvel films.

She's a proven singer and has been for years. But most importantly, she's a proven actress. She's demonstrated that she knows how to act and sing in a large budget musical with The Greatest Showman.

Halle Bailey has a moderately successful Youtube singing duo, but only two acting credits- one in a film from 2006, and another far more recent one as a character in the TV show Grown-ish. I think Zendaya would be the far safer bet in terms of both experience, but the added benefit of 'star power' she'd bring to the film and marketing campaign. Being able to sing is only half the battle- acting in a large budget film for Disney is quite a bit different than a sitcom, so I'm very curious to see how she does.

It is nice to see Disney take some kind of risk on a newcomer to Hollywood with this film, since The Walt Disney Company today tends to be quite risk adverse. She must have nailed the audition to get them to pick her instead of the many other talented singers and actors in Hollywood.

Was it actually confirmed that Zendaya even wanted the part? All I heard was that she would be tapped and a natural fit due to her relationship with Disney, but that was all rumor. But I don’t think I ever heard she actually auditioned for the part let alone even wanted it.

Also I would think she’d want more adult parts now being 22 almost 23.

I mean, have you seen Euphoria? That show may fulfill the “adult parts” quota for a good decade.

Speaking of Zendaya playing traditionally red headed characters, the new Spider-Man movies contain nothing I like about Spider-Man. The Raimi films were way better.

I’m the complete opposite. I think the Holland Spider-Man movies get at the heart of why Peter Parker is a fascinating character in a way that the McGuire films failed to do (probably says a lot that Doc Ock was the best-developed character in that trilogy).

Of course, nothing is coming close to touching Spider-verse at this point.

I actually do like Peter Parker but that's it. Flash Thompson not being a jock is lame. Mary Jane not being an iconic redhead is lame. Peter going to a school specifically for nerd sis lame. Not having Harry Osborne be Peter's best friend is lame. Spider-Man not swinging through New York is lame. Peter not making his own suit and just having it be a gift of Tony Stark is lame. The stuff that really makes Spider-Man Spider-Man just isn't there.

I agree the Spider-Verse is the best. I've heard the PS4 game is also great.

MJ in the MCU Spiderman is Michelle Jones, not Mary Jane
They're both love interests to Peter named MJ. She's a replacement for Mary Jane without being named Mary Jane. It's dumb.

Imagine if Disneyland's live entertainment was this clever, funny, and, well, entertaining. Golden Horseshoe desperately needs a show half as brilliant as this.

IMO the can can girls at the Golden (or Diamond) Horseshoe are as much a part of Disneyland iconography as Star Jets or the castle.

Her schedule is super busy with Euphoria and Dune.

I really would love it if Disney+ has every episode of Disneyland/WDP/WWOC, but if I can get them for free on YouTube that's even better!
(if they do go ahead with adding them to D+, i'm just gonna remove my WWOC uploads out of respect cause that'd be an awesome move and worth the price alone)

Honestly the only way I'll buy Disney+ is if it has all the 50's and 60's Disney TV shows like WWOC, Zorro, Davy Crockett, and let's throw in The Lone Ranger, too.

Yep, I’ve seen it, every episode. But that is a single series. I’m sure she doesn’t want to be locked into another Disney “kid” role. Even with MJ she played the character with an adult snark that goes against the Disney grain.

Disney is known for being very strict with their female child actresses. It’s the reason you see a lot of them act out after they get out from under the Disney umbrella.
