They have the better Small World (Yes, our facade is better, but their ride and music are better. I despise the character additions to ours.)

How dare you.

I'd like to see it updated so that the last scene is maybe the 80s, rounding out the 20th century. But the voice actor who voiced John died a while back, so I wonder if that's part of why they haven't updated anything; they'd be rerecording all of his lines basically.

A good voice actor, with a little help with some AI tuning, and processing to make it sound like a '60s recording could be convincing for a new last scene.

Isn't the last scene already supposed to be the 90s or soon after?

It's kind of what they thought the 90s would be back in 1993.

The family is there at Christmas, and they're opening gifts. They have a virtual reality video game. Was very much not a thing until recently. Then the wife is there setting up the voice activated appliances, which I suppose we have now with Alexa, but again, not a thing in the 90s. So now it tries to indicate that the scene is more...like today? Even the clothes have since been updated (the daughter swapped out her leg warmers for athlesuire, and her hair is less 90s, more 2022).

But then the daughter mentions a car phone and it's like...um? The rest of the scenes are fine with the exception of that last scene. It skips from having clearly defined time periods (turn of the century, 20s, 40s) to an ambiguous point in the future.

That doesn't bode well for you if the attraction they put in the Avatar land at DL is anything like FOP...I can do Star Tours, but FOP is a hell no.
I was actually fine on FOP the last time I did it, though admittedly that was in 2017.

I want to say my issues with Star Tours started around the same time though. It'll be interesting to see what happens if I end up at WDW again.

Star Tours is the only attraction that consistently makes me feel a little queasy. Forbidden Journey, Simpsons Ride — no problem. C-3PO’s piloting, however…
Those are the other two attractions that are no bueno. Even from first ride on Forbidden Journey, I've always thought the motion was a bit much. I haven't gotten to the point where I straight up won't ride it-yet-but I'm sure it's coming.

Now, maybe it's a generalization (or narcississm), but the first time I did FJ was 2014, and as someone who's done (and hopefully will continue to be able to do) quite a few roller coasters, thrill rides, etc. in my day, I couldn't help thinking that if it was a little much for me, it was definitely a lot for a lot of other people too. I'm positive they could tone down the motion a tad and almost no one would complain.

Simpsons just sucks, which is unfortunate because the actual preshows and the attraction script are actually quite funny. But the decision to render the characters in 3D has just aged more and more poorly over time and it's a crime that it has outlasted BTTF.

(Though if I'm being honest, the last time I did BTTF in 2010-in Osaka-it was a bit much for me too. Maybe I just don't like simulators as much as I think I do.)

Probably a very stupid question, but as someone coming from IL that is not used to outdoor dining being a thing on any level in December:

How is outdoor dining at DLR around Christmas? Obviously a lot of seating at Disneyland is outdoors regardless of the time of year, but am I going to be chilly if I eat outside? Should I stick to what I would usually do in December and eat inside, or is it really not that different from eating outside at any other time of year in SoCal? Are there any restaurants that straight-up close or limit their outdoor seating areas this time of year?

It may be chilly at late evening and early morning (50s or on a rare day in the 40s), but expect it to be in the 70 degree range most of the day between the hours of 10-7.

I have no issues on Star Tours.

FOP I can't do at all, though. I get so dizzy while on it that I don't enjoy it, and then I come off queasy.

One of the reasons I've never gone to Universal (Orlando or Hollywood) is because there's so many simulators; I wouldn't be able to get on a bunch of the rides.

There's also more WDW cast members. You're bound to get more bad apples in the bunch when you have to hire more people. WDW is pretty reliant on the college program kids too, so it's a lot of rotating employees.

As far as MK being dirtier, I think it's also the attitude of guests. There are MANY guests on WDW who have an entitled attitude of "I paid this much for my vacation; I should be able to do what I want." Whereas DL guests seem to think of it as "their" park and want to keep it clean.
Agreed. We saw a lot of bad guest behavior. Like you mentioned with the cast members, more guests means more bad apples.
