It's a fun overlay but my only issue is it's called "Monsters After Dark" but there is only a single monster.

I don’t love that the story mandates that they conceal the “monsters” in the queue. I get that the monsters have escaped, but it’s kind of a bummer to take away the fun AAs!

When I got to do try out MAD, I only got Rocket on video. So good to know that they actually did reprogram him for this!

Okay, so I’m not crazy. I must've watched a POV years ago that showcased the screen pre-show as opposed to the alternate Rocket AA spiel. A pleasant surprise!

I remember people claiming that MAD was better than the regular ride when it was brand new, and based on my own experiences with the overlay (limited though they are) I don't see how anyone can come to that conclusion, personally. Nice to do something different, I suppose, and at least it's a limited run that doesn't fully replace the main attraction.

I'm not even really a fan of Mission: Breakout (beyond the fact that it's a fun thrill ride) and even I'd say this is a surprising take.

I think it was MiceChat. IIRC, whoever covered it was like "the story makes more sense than the regular version!" Which, personally...although that's a low bar, I'd still probably say no.

Maybe it's because I've grown up and have more important things going on in my life, or maybe it's because Disneyland just sucks now, but it makes me kind of sad how little I care about Disneyland. I keep coming to this forum, seeing updates to projects, reading rumors, but I just don't care and can barely muster any energy to even criticize. It's all just so dull.

It probably just means that you are intelligent and do not feel like investing your energy and emotion into something that keeps on disappointing you time and time again.

With that said, I have to push back on Disneyland sucking. It’s still a great park. Even if most of the new stuff is bad to meh.

I think it is easy to explain.

Once one comes to the realization Disney no longer cares, they realize their passion is misplaced and undeserved.

The fundamentals of Disneyland remain great, but they become harder and harder to enjoy when they are covered up and altered. For instance, Main Street USA is wonderful, but Pixar Fest decorations ruin it for me.
If you just stare down at your phone and keep refreshing the app to get a pass you just paid more for as you walk down Main St, you won’t notice them.

The imagineers who are assembling the music for placemaking have no actual sense of what the music was like in the representative time periods/places and can only focus in on the 1 or 2 songs that they hear and go 'hey, that's that one old timey song, it sounds good, put it on!'. No variety, no flair, no thought put into what songs should/would/could play for the placemaking... just generic songs equivalent to a tik tok of mainstreet.

Same boat here. The complete lack of care from imagineering has me in a bleh mood. I'm currently only excited for Pueblo Esperanza in AK... but extremely cautious in my excitement.

I'm actually considering about getting a pass to Dland again once they start selling them again... but it's for 2 reasons- a good friend wants a Disney buddy again, and it'd give me another reason to do Friday night walks to keep a bit more in shape. Not excited for the actual content of the parks at all...

I've been in this boat for awhile and sometimes question why I come here when I have no intentions of going. The last time I went was 2019 and they had already done projects I didn't like (TOT being the worst offender I can think of) I still had a fun time in the parks. I was leaving California in 2022 and thought of going one last time while I had the chance but the reservations and no free fast pass really killed my desire to do it. I was 2 hours away, I didn't want to plan weeks in advance, just buy a ticket for Saturday or Sunday and go.

It's one thing to not like choices that were made or to get tired of something from going too many times, but even now, Disneyland Park is far from a bad product. If you want a bad Disney product, the Studio park in Paris is right there. Now, there are a lot of things that could be better at Disneyland, sure, but anyone who thinks the main park is a bad product is delusional. I'd suggest the likelihood is greater that the person in question has just gone too many times, which is a great way to sour yourself on ANY place on Earth. Yes, even the great ones.

Now, DCA or the resort as a whole? Cases could be made. But if you genuinely think Disneyland Park sucks, the problem is you.

This is a real thing. Chasing my nephews around Disneyland on Saturday, I got over 35,000 steps.

Lol it really is. When we took a break this time last year for 5 months we noticed that we felt more sluggish and out of shape. When you are living a sedentary lifestyle with an office job those Disneyland steps make a difference.
