Looks like they've moved the tram route decor into Downtown Disney?
Nice as it is to have some decor along the tram route, makes a lot of sense to have it be somewhere that guests can actually look at it.

If only putting them up in August made sense.
No recent fights at Magic Mountain.Yeah, it's tacky. Speaking of tacky...

App developers have minimum OS requirements for their apps as the apps use features from those version that aren't in the older OS versions including security updates, and Disney is no different. If the app requires a certain OS level and your device doesn't support that OS, well then as you say you're SOL. I mean one can't expect that Disney would support a device that even the OS provider stopped supporting. I guess one could, but it would be silly to get upset at Disney when it stops working as you can't even get OS updates for your phone so how do you expect an app to work forever.I got tired of the app crashing every time I tried to order food so I uninstalled it. When I went to reinstall I got "your device isn't compatible with this version." I grant that I am cheap and my phone has stopped on Android 9. I emailed their Help. I am curious to see if or what they respond. "Too bad, buy a new phone or you're SOL?"
In the meantime I sideloaded an older APK that I found online. It works well so far, fingers crossed that it's not malicious. But if I didn't know to do that I would be very upset that they sold me this very expensive thing that I suddenly can't use without another expensive purchase.
I would be careful. Newer versions of the app (at least in WDW's version) implemented new security protocols like oAuth and access tokens when communicating with Disney's internal APIs.I got tired of the app crashing every time I tried to order food so I uninstalled it. Naw, this is more fun. I may jinx myself but I manage to keep my computery stuff safe (former IT).All devices have an end of life when it comes to software. For your own security, you may want to consider upgrading in the future.
So wait, you were given ample warning for many versions that it was no longer going to work on your old phone at some point in the future, and now that that day finally came you're upset?Naw, this is more fun. I may jinx myself but I manage to keep my computery stuff safe (former IT).
With earlier versions the app gave fair warning that it would soon no longer work on my phone, and I did get a new one (even though DL is the only app I use that ever forces that, grr).
What bothered me this time was that there no warning; it worked until it didn't. I'm glad I didn't try to un-&-re-install while I was in the park. Some poor powerless CM would've earned combat pay for hearing about that.
Meanwhile I'll keep playing with old APKs as long as it entertains me.
ETA A friend has the identical phone, OS, provider, etc. The app runs flawlessly on hers (she's been ordering my food for me). Go figure.
Sorry, I wasn't clear. Many many years ago, I would get a warning from the app that my phone soon wouldn't be supported. That happened three times, and I upgraded my phone each time. This time there was no warning. The app was working fine except for ordering food so I thought a reinstall might help but after removing it says I can't put it back. And it's still fine on my friend's phone. No warnings anywhere. So wait, you were given ample warning for many versions that it was no longer going to work on your old phone at some point in the future, and now that that day finally came you're upset?
Darn, there goes my family's lawsuit after I die from sheer outrage.Just remember, using the app or signing up for Disney+ keeps you from suing Disney in case of accidental death.
So its clear though they have been warning you that older devices won't be supported for years now. And if you've been upgrading your phone each time when there was a warning then why are you on an phone that stopped getting updates over 2 years ago when Android 9 went end of life? Which by the way would have been the time Disney stopped supporting Android 9 as well, so they would have told you back then as well.Sorry, I wasn't clear. 1. Because they haven't told me it's no longer supported, i.e. no warning as before. And if you've been upgrading your phone each time when there was a warning then why are you on an phone that stopped getting updates over 2 years ago when Android 9 went end of life?
Extremely! 2018 maybe? And yet only DL rejects me, and underhandedly at that.So its clear your phone is now very outdated
The moment the OS no longer gets updates is typically when app vendors stop supporting said OS, and I'm pretty sure you know that since you say you're former IT. So I'm also pretty sure at some point in the last 2+ years since the OS became end of life that the app told you that the OS wasn't supported any longer. So they gave you warnings, you just chose to ignore them.1. Because they haven't told me it's no longer supported, i.e. no warning as before.
2. Because it's fine on my friend's phone so they are technically allowing it.

iOS devices: Require iOS 16 and above
Android devices: Require Android 10 and above
Devices that do not meet the minimum requirements can continue to use older versions of the app, but may experience slower app performance and will not receive any new features or updates.
Yeah, I know I'm stubborn and contrary. I just wish they were upfront like they used to be. "Everybody upgrade now or no app for you!"The moment the OS no longer gets updates is typically when app vendors stop supporting said OS, and I'm pretty sure you know that since you say you're former IT. And just because it works on one similar device doesn't mean they "allow it", again I think you know this. It just means it hasn't stopped working yet. Right on their site Disney says what is supported, and even a message about old devices -
That is not a guarantee that it'll work forever, just that you can continue to use the old version of the app. And if you tried to get the new version of the app, which you did, then the device has to meet the minimum requirements which your phone does not.
And you acknowledge you're on a very outdated phone, one that is 6 years old and cannot receive OS updates. Disney is in no way required to warn you or provide any support for your device. You can blame Disney for a lot of things, but this one is 100% on you. I'm sure if you contact your carrier they have an older model that is still getting OS updates for no charge, one built in the 2020s.
Well they probably aren't expecting stubborn people that still have old phones using the app on an OS 2 years past end of life, not when most plans give even the most basic new smart phones away for free. Now top of the line, yeah that'll cost you. But basic Android with basic features and even last generation iPhone available for the low cost of $0.00.Yeah, I know I'm stubborn and contrary. I just wish they were upfront like they used to be. "Everybody upgrade now or no app for you!"
I will continue enjoying the challenge of seeing how long I can keep going with this phone. At this point it's a quest, like Kramer driving the car on fumes. Speaking of, you don't want to know how old my vehicles are.
You don't have computers running every version of Windows up to 7?Yeah, I know I'm stubborn and contrary. I just wish they were upfront like they used to be. "Everybody upgrade now or no app for you!"

I wouldn't be surprised if they were still running XP....You don't have computers running every version of Windows up to 7?
