The Mine Train 'temper your expectations' thread

I don't disagree with any of this. While visually stunning FLE could have been much better. I wish they had built at least 1 other ride that was a true E ticket that could have blown us away. My original response was specifically to this:

I don't understand why the construction time should be the main thing to be disappointed about. To me it hardly factors into my opinion.
Because the longer the wait the higher the anticipation and expectation. You build something up, and if this is just a cute ride many could be dissapointed. I know when I say I am not alone in that train of thought.

If anyone is expecting the ride to change or be improved somehow because it hasn't opened yet then I agree they will be disappointed. The extended construction time is not because they are adding anything to the attraction or enhancing it in any way. The layout of the ride and the plans were leaked a long while ago and the finished product looks pretty much exactly in line with the drawings Lee posted here a long, long time ago.

On the contrary. If I love the Coaster as much as I love Be Our Guest, I'll be ecstatic, and will trumpet my esctatic-ness on this board. Stay tuned...
Yeah, I am super psyched to see be our guest for myself and I would LOVE, I mean LOOOOOOOOVE for this ride to be an instant classic but we haven't had one in so long, its hard to be positive. Pixie dusters seem to think we are doom and gloom but I want nothing more than another ride that captivates my attention like haunted mansion does.

Well, after seeing the Mermaid ride, I've already tamped down my enthusiasm over the Mine Coaster quite a bit. It'll probably be full of visible mechanics and plastic dwarfs...

For a moment, I envision myself coasting through a diamond mine with amazing effects of the likes I've never laid eyes on, smiling from ear to ear while rocking back and forth in my mine car racing through the mountain, life like animatronics singing and dancing, surrounded by scenes of such intricate detail that the outside world ceases to exist and I'm transported into a magical wonder land!......Reality quickly slaps me in the face as I remember that WDW is ran by people who only receive that kind of happiness from profits and bonuses and would rather build a new hotel than expand a dream of a magical place created by someone with more vision than they could ever afford to buy.

No shot it will be on par with HM. I don't think instant classic is likely, but it could be a fun little addition to MK. I think it could become a must ride attraction for me, but is unlikely to be a true headliner.

Plastic dwarfs at least trump cardboard cutouts;)

I really hope the 1 main show scene is actually well done and has good AAs. With Mermaid there are a whole lot of moving parts but this only has a few so they should be well done.

You assume that everyone is in the know that the average guest doesn't think about that, many of my passholder friends aren't in the know like any of us. All they know is that the ride has taken this long to build so they expect it to be fantastic. They keep thinking its going to be the next it ride, when frankly its not. So yes time does have a serious perception on peoples expectations.

I guess they didn't think much of Transformers;). I doubt the average guest has any idea how long construction has taken, but we could go around in circles all night. I guess we should just agree to disagree:)

That metaphor works perfectly, if it took a year to make a fantastic ride my goodness Disney must be making a doozy then. I guess agree to disagree indeed.

Indeed. And the Tower of Terror - the Imagineers' last really great attraction.

Be Our Guest is delightful - it has a genuinely magical atmosphere, and the food (at least the dishes I tried) is excellent. I do hope that TDO commissions a better Beast suit though, for when the Beast is presented as "your host" and visits with the guests. He looked positively shabby the last time I was there...

I'm sure the Beast was just as appalled and disappointed with the shabby attire of his guests dining in his Ballroom. T-shirts and flip flops, oh my !
