The Merch Alert Thread

This isn't the thread to have this debate, but I think the market is still there. Its just a matter of either the fan base accepting what is being put out or the content creator (Disney in this case) bending to the will of the fan base. One or the other has to happen, and I put my money on the fan base caving first, but what do I know....
We are accepting of that is put out. The problem is it's impossible to find new product. We know it exists but we can't buy it because they flood the market with initial waves of crap.

Well just wait, a new round of product is just around the corner....
Actually that is true. There is a new wave of star wars toys released this week. You will never see it at Target or Walmart because they still have product from the first wave of TLJ and Solo figures. That is what has killed the hobby.

I'm not a big collector, so I don't know all the release dates. But I was referring to the EP9 offerings being just around the corner. As I assume those won't be released until early 2019.

However with that being said I assume some of the reason things are not found at Target or Walmart has to do with distribution contracts.

The single best line of toys ever released was the run of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle action figures from 1988 to 1994.

Facts. Why oh why did I give these to my younger cousin who ended up destroying them and or throwing them away? I had at least 50. Other great toys from that era - the WWF wrestlers, ghostbusters and do you remember the Food fighter action figures? The McDonalds happy meal toys were also legendary.

Heck yeah I remember Food Fighters! And I wish I had taken better care of a few of my early TMNT characters. I have a box that is a sad collection of hands and legs with no bodies.

That stuff is going to released about a month before the movie. During the last few times, they released it three months before the movie and overstocked the shelves. That far ahead no one cares about the line once the movie is released.

These tiny arcade machines were released recently. They are fully playable and are perfect size for ewoks to play.

Lol. What a time to be alive... and to be a kid. Not only were we last generation to play outside but had the best toys and were there for the birth of video games. Adulthood sucks

You know what else sucks? Having a more screwed up equilibrium as an adult. I was playing through Toy Story the other day on Genesis and got to the 3-D "inside the claw machine" level, and man it knocked me for a loop.

That's the problem with film makers. They keep trying to re-make a movie that they loved as a child and fail miserably.
Its true for TV too. People think that just because we have better technology, everything needs to be re-done. As a filmmaker, my early loves are untouchable, though I'm not above paying homages. The only thing I would consider re-making is something that was awful to begin with.
