The Magic Of Disney Animation closing?

I fear DHS will just end up being IP land.....stuffed with meet and greets everywhere.....Golden Hollywood just didn't cater to little kids well enough.

Next up.....I see EPCOT going the same way.....the signs are there....leave the place to rot then strip it....turn it in to Dora the explorer land.....or some other character laced park. No more inspiration....wonderment.

At least DHS is meant to be filled with IPs. It's never had original attractions based upon novel material.

On the topic of IPs and Meet and Greets, Tom And Jerry used to do meet and greets at DHS during the early 90's (Back when the place was called "MGM Studio") since the Tom And Jerry Movie just came out at the time.

I remember seeing one of the Tom And Jerry cartoons playing during the finale for "The Great Movie Ride" back in 2004 and 2006.

I really don't have a problem with any of the recent closures at DHS, and wouldn't really have a problem with this one. What I do find un-acceptable is closing things without immediately starting something new. Someone around here always like's to talk about business cycles, and I am even ok with that idea as long as things don't loose ground in between but that is exactly what has been happening.

I really don't have a problem with the closures in of them selves.....,y biggest problem is with the way the whole park has been managed...or mismanaged should I say.

You of all people know a thing or two about construction management....the way this park has been handled is abysmal at best.

:jawdrop: What! When is this going to happen? Someone please tell me its not until the fall (or at least that its going to reopen). Animation Academy is one of the only things my son and I both have on our "must do" list this trip.

I like the Animation Academy and bemoan more stuff closing. But this could be a very good thing if part of a master plan. The entire Animation building takes up a huge footprint because the former animation studios are still around (being used as just offices IIRC). Personally, I would love to see them just level the whole area and start again -- no reason they couldn't bring back a new Animation Building in some form (including the drawing class and space for M&Gs) while still using a lot of the other space for new attractions.

Opening up the Animation Courtyard would be a good thing for park flow -- I've suggested making a walkway to RNR from the area before -- and it's the right location to add on rides devoted to Disney animated films, especially those that don't work well thematically in Fantasyland. Stuff like Big Hero 6 or Wreck It Ralph. Or bringing back a plussed LPS version of Mr. Toad's -- which would be a huge hit for nostalgia folks.

When California Adventure was redone, did they see as many things close before new things opened? It's one thing to close an area of the park to be redone but hopefully you have other stuff to do. Studios will be getting a major overhaul possibly bigger than DCA, but then, it is going to be very hard to justify to guests that it's worth their money to visit.

If they do make a new Animation Building...I REALLY Hope they go with the interior design like at DCA's version...

They were NEVER in GMR...They only place they showed 2 MGM shorts is in Sci-Fi Dine In...Tex Avery's The Cat That Hated People and Tom & Jerry's Mouse into Space (1961)

Pick a colour, any colour...

Every area that I've heard was considered for large-scale change over the last 3 years. No guarantee which will make the final chop. Other areas could be included but I can't personally confirm.

That's how potentially far-reaching and thorough the makeover could be. Note I said "could".
