They finally got rid of the rotting away movie prop cars and planes from the tram tour at MGM.Some they crushed right on property behind coaster.

What? Are you talking about the boneyard? Do you have pictures of them being gone? I would be very surprised if they got rid of all of it, some of was from some great films of the past.

Last summer they were looking pretty bad. Now if they are really gone theres not much point to the "backlot" tour. The tour starts out going by telling you about the pontiac GTs that the "LMA drivers use to practice with"....not. Then you hear about the Earful tower....the water tower thats not really a water tower. Then you round the bend and they tell you about the working wardrobe for all the movies being shot at MGM....well not any more. Then off to the boneyard...well now that is gone now too. Ok..the only part of the tour thats great...Walts Plane. Now off to Castrophy canyon which is a waste of time to me, not but half the effects even worked last time we rode it. And then thats it.
Oh yea...I almost forgot about the "Water Tank" part of the tour at the beginning. Last 2 times I did that they didnt even do the show, they just played the "finished product" and told the 25 or so people to head on down to the 2nd part of the tour.

I surely hope that they do some incredible things in this refurb, because the backlot tour has gotten so bad that if you frequent WDW and MGM, its not even worth it.

I hate to say it but, it's not really worth it even if you are first time visitor !

as cool as Walt's plane is, it really bugs me to see it rotting away in the Florida sun. I wish they would build some type of climate indoor storage area for it and then have it behind glass or something so people can still look at it.

Hmmm....I was on that tour about 2 weeks ago, and sure enough, we drove past the rusty cars, helicopter, etc. and Walt's plane. Did they just get rid of them really recently?

Yea, Id like to see a older era airplane hanger where you could go inside and see the plane with other things from when the park was first open and could even include the artifacts from one mans dream and other historical things from the project known as Walt Disney World.

Yes..

It's a pity that there was no room inside the One Man's Dream building for the plane.

That would have been great..

Costume shop

I liked the part of the tour where you ride through the building and see the costume shop. That seemed like a "real" backlot activity, but yeah, most of it's just pathetic now, although they did do the watertank show and my boyfriend, a first-timer, got a laugh out of catastrophe canyon.

Its really a shame that all these props and artifacts from the past have just gone to waste. This could have been the 5th gate that everyone has talked about.

ok... ok.... maybe not a 5th gate, but at least a museum that is dedicated to Disney's Past to the Present.
The One Man's Dream can only hold so much... but it would've been cool to put other items of historical interest in a museum on property... or in Anaheim.
My father and brother rode in that plane from Washington DC to Orlando as part of the Disney - Magic Music Days promotion. Its really sad that the plane is left to bake in the sun. I really hope someone can rescue it and restore it.

By the way.... 500th post!

this attraction is so sad... with or without the boneyard... it use to be so fun and interesting when the park was a working studio... The park was SO exciting back then... I remember thinking that I might get on tv. ... now this attraction that was once the flagship attraction at MGM is pretty boring.... its only a matter of time until this attraction too becomes defunct... that is unless WDI can revive it... we'll see

Walts plane is still there. The Backlot tour lives another 3 to 5 yrs. It's just to keep people occupied for an hour or so and keep them in the park. The canyon is comng around a little a few effects have been fixed but I agree it's a waste of space.
