The Great Fundamentals of Pool Hopping

I just had to open up a new thread to my greatest achievement of the pool hop....

Now I know most of you are clever and have found ways around the different pools much like I have.....

So if any of you out there don't know how to pool hop successfully or might be afraid, here is what I got....

Rule #1: Of course whenever pool hopping, you have to go in thinking you own the place, you should be getting out of the car, or off the bus/boat/monorail in your bathing suit with not a lot of baggage. Basically, you gotta look like crap....

Rule #2: Don't bring your own towels(I'm talking mickey towels, bright colors, beach towels). It's essential that you get the resort towels at the pool you are illegally swimming in. Now, I'm going to give away some freebies in how to obtain them without showing any resort ID!

Freebie #1: Polynesian Volcano Pool, this one is so easy it makes me sick, go get a towel at the towel shack by the pool bar, OH WAIT, there's a CM checking ID's, oh no, we're busted, not for long....... BEFORE you even set foot anywhere near the Volcano pool, FIRST get yourself over to the quiet pool where fresh UNGUARDED towels are waiting!!! Take as many as you like and head over to the Volcano Pool looking of course like you are a current resort guest!

Freebie #2: Stormalong Bay, the Fort Knox of WDW pools. It's impossible to illegally pool hop, NOT THE CASE.....much like the POLY, the quiet pools towel shacks go UNGUARDED.....go figure, so simply do the same thing as you would at the POLY.....have a nice illegal swim.

And of course, just in case you do ever get checked for a resort ID, you say, don't have it on me, all that, that's a no-brainer...I think that whole thing is a myth.....I've pool hopped at every WDW pool, NEVER been carded!!!

Ok, I basically did this for all of you out there, that tell me pool hopping is illegal and that I'm gonna get caught.......hasn't happend yet, and it never will!

I really hope I helped some new pool hoppers today, cause it's simple, don't let the DVC members or anyone else scare you off!!!

Ok, I'm done

Well if they ever did card they know now that someone is getting away with it. However I have never heard of them carding guests? Are you sure this is something they really do?

Ummm....I have a friend....who pretty much confirms everything Lance just said. Not that my friend would ever condone something like, say, a refreshing jump in the Poly pool to get the sweat off before a long car ride back home. That would be wrong.

One word of warning - my friend hasn't tried this post 9/11, so he's not sure what kind of mood Disney security would be in if they had to deal with trespassers. If you were staying on-site, that might be one thing.

Shannon, you say it like it's so easy

But I don't pool hop anyway, so what the heck am I even doing in this thread? I guess I'm THAT bored! (or trying to avoid cleaning my house)

If illegal pool hopping becomes too popular then they will become more strict. If you want to keep doing it I would recommend keeping quiet about it.

Here's something from an Orlando newspaper.
Dateline: June 30th, 2003

Bulletin:

Walt Disney Security has reported the ejection of 1,342 guests from it's resorts when it was discoverd they were illegally swimming in resort pools. When asked what made them think that the water was wetter on the other side of the property, ex-guests reportedly mumbled something about being influenced by a member of an Internet Disney forum.

Apparently, Disney Security saw the same Internet site and equipped it's Cast Members with walkie talkies. When a guest was asked for room identification at a resort pool, any guest proclaiming he did not have the room card with him or her, the Cast Member radioed the front desk to quickly confirm legitimacy.

Motel 6 and Econo-lodge have reported a boom in room rentals. $50 per night rooms are now $230 with a beautiful view of Route 192.:hammer:

I think it depends upon how crowded the pool area is! If it's mobbed, and guests start complaining,(especially those who have read about the hoppers on the internet ;)) cards will start being checked.

...I have seen CMs stationed at the entrance to the Beach Club pool asking for room keys....but this may have been ONLY because it was during the July 4th holiday...

Ooooh...harsh! ;) I really don't consider pool hopping a criminal act, just tacky. Sort of like being at a large hotel with more than one wedding reception, and "crashing" the one with a better band. (if you actually eat or drink the food someone else paid for, it is "stealing.") It's not the party you were invited to, but if no one notices, you can easily get away with it...but it's still tacky. ;)

Well with all these postings about pool-hopping, let's see what Disney security does. Going Thanksgiving week and staying at the Beach Club. I better have a chair Lance:lol:

I have seen people carded at Stormalong Bay and on the Beach in front. CM's asked for ID's and when not forthcoming, they asked for name and room # at which time they used their cell phone? pager? whatever to verify guest status. This was a year ago. When people just moved to the quiet pool, soon the cm's came over and politely asked them to leave. 20 min. later they were still there and then they were asked AGAIN

I apoplogize for that remark. It was a response to Tramp, not you. I will delete it if you want me too. I don't mind pool-hoppers in general. Just the arrogant ones. Again, I'm sorry.
