I'd like to reserve one of the aerobeds for a quick nap before the fun begins. Then I'm ready for some good times!
Did I mention that this whole doggie surgery thing came exectly 2 weeks after the passing of my Grandpa?
I REALLY need some good times here!

*packs overnight bag, rum, and snake bite kit*

Ya just never know how this party may get out of hand!!

I was so busy last week that I didn't have a chance to check in.

We've had record HIGHS this week; everybody in the pool! (Actually, I don't have one, but I'm sure my neighbor won't mind. )

I thought I could get some R&R this weekend, but Nooo! I'm having my house painted, and the crew was here at first light both today and yesterday. Let me tell you how wonderful it is to awaken to the sound of male voices and "scraping" outside your second floor bedroom window! Plus there's a window in our shower, so I'll have to use my daughter's bathroom.

The only good thing is that they might get everything done by the holidays. My house isn't exactly attractive right now; they're scraping down to the bare wood, which hasn't been exposed since 1913.

tigsmom, could you please elaborate about the airport/national guard thing?

Not sure what was going on. Our local airport-Stewart International (SWF) was at one time an Air Force Base...still used by the National Guard. They practice take off/landings daily and have been shipping stuff overseas to support our troops.

Heard on the fire radio that the place was closed down for an emergency C 150 landing and had called in support from West Point (fire service). There was nothing in the paper so I don't know what went on.

The air strip is huge and can hold heavy loads (we are the last resort for the Space Shuttle emergency landings). It is also where AirForce One lands when you know who is in town! (and what an impressive site to see!)

Since it was a virtual party and I wasn't heading out to WDW I really didn't pay that much attention.

And its a very windy 25 degrees here this morning.

Heading out to a French Toast breakfast to support our local vol. firefighters (My DH has been there since 6am cooking up the french toast).

Ah, I understand. I live a few miles away from NAS JAX, and there are always "strange" things going on. I find it very interesting that a Super Target is going up right next to the airstrip. Doesn't seem like a great plan to me, but eh! And the only crash that they've had since we've lived here...22 years... was at the opposite end of the runway, so I guess it won't be a problem.

Can't remember any "official" crash, but we did have a huge Fed Ex plane land while it was on fire. They found the fire in the hold about 10 minutes out. These guys were great. Landed away from everybody and got out the window before it exploded...no injuries.

Just got back in from running some errands...my neighbor is out putting up Christmas decorations!!

Inflatable Santa, moving reindeer (with obligatory flashing lights).

This is a new addition...they have a huge colonial and its usually just candles in the windows and a huge wreath on the outside.

I am soooo not ready for this.

Now, now don't knock it too much... :lookaroun I'll be out this afternoon getting a jump start on my Christmas decorations. I don't wanna be out in 3 feet of snow in a few weeks trying to untangle lights. However, I don't own any inflatable santas or reindeer. The only inflatable thing I have is that ... er, forget it. :lookaroun:xmas:

Freak Doll...for when I'm not around :zipit:

(How do I tell them that because of the unfreaking process...I have no inner monologue?)

:

My neighbor just bought one. He's decided that it's going to "travel" the neighborhood, just like the pink flamingos. I told the painter that he could get one down from the roof while he was up there. I think it was in retaliation for the one I left in my neighbor's shower while he was away, which was in retaliation for the one that I found looking in my bedroom window when I returned from vacation, which was in retaliation for the one that he found sitting on the toilet when he got home (at 2AM) ...you get the idea.
