We lost most of our hostas to voles they eat the roots

WOW I only have to deal with slugs....and sluggoplus works better than plain sluggo…..multiple munchers....beer is too precious these days to offer to those varmits….ha ha.....

Has anyone here tried those automatic sprinklers where you dig a hole fill with water and motion sensor sprays deer? I heard it works for awhile....🙃

So if it is unmetered everyone is charged a flat rate? Would you really save money if you hook up to meter when you are a big water user?! Hard to know. I had my interruptible electric meter taken out as they were only supposed to shut your ac down 15 minutes a few times a day, and it was much more than that on hot days.....then I recently got estimate(pre covid) on a heat pump and guy said to install an interruptible meter to save money......:D….you have to a few hundred to reinstall and don't think I want them to regain that control. Plus I am quite certain that dude disconnected my AC wire when he dismantled the interruptible.....and been pondering if it was intentional!!!;) Metering is not always a good thing....
Yes, we are charged a flat rate for water, sewerage, and garbage pickup.
I have family and friends who live in the surrounding suburbs and have metered water.
They pay a lot more than I do.

Chip and Dale braved going up on my deck. I don't think they're going to like the ground red pepper sprinkled everywhere:angelic:

I use cayenne pepper outside door to deter ants......we have been trapping and relocating Chip and Dale's friends....gives us an excuse to drive somewhere..... :D. Darn mosquitoes made their debut last evening....I usually don't have much of a prob with them but have been out all day past few weeks with nothing and last night....5 bites...... This morning had me in blue jeans and jacket!

Citronella plants work wonders to keep mosquitos away. They need to be taken in before first frost. They grow like weeds and can be cut and rooted to make more plants

Guess who needs another bag of mulch:facepalm: I have a nice sized circle with my ds' arbor day twig now nice looking pine tree, mint, rue, daffodils, foxgloves, thyme and oregano. Anyhoo after mulching it look fine but after a couple of nice rains it looked a bit lopsided so my dh and I went out moved a few large rocks to make it more circular. We filled in one place with an ornamental grass but the other area required some dirt and now needs a small plant and mulch:banghead:

Doc is getting me muscle relaxers and Vicodin; wooHoo!

It will still get done Willmark….get some of your fam do the watering and feel accomplished directing traffic.... :D. We have had some nice 78 degree days but tomorrow back to 90, think its been over two weeks since it rained here but 80% chance tomorrow night into Wednesday. PLEASE!!!!

Do you get to take time off from your paying job or are you still working at home.....be careful with any important emails sent while on Vicodin!!!!;) Hope it passes quickly and that you behave so that it might.....:cautious:.

Maybe a hammock would be a good place to nap while drugged up.....:D.

Meanwhile my tomatoes and green beans are going to town....and my leaf lettuce and romaine starters are getting bigger so been researching how to cut and not hurt the crown for the "cut and come again" type it is.....bitty carrot seedlings coming up to thin out....and peppers, strawberries and Swiss chard coming along but behind the curve of everyone else. Day dreaming grandiose raised garden plans for next year…..;).

Walked by a yard the other day with a small 4 by 1.5ish corrugated planter plopped in front yard with flowers....was too small scale to make a statement, but maybe they had bigger ones happening in backyard, but made me think on RickySpanish's plans for larger scale planter as such! Saw article in gardening mag and they seem pretty quick to make.
