I hope you're feeling better and being good;)
Indeed I have. One week on meds and it’s at least tolerable. I’ve been going fairly easy: just weeding, watering and the like.

I did construct a compost bin yesterday out of the left over boards from garden 2.0

I also assembled our new grill, a Cusinart, who knew the made grills?

Almost everything has sprouted except the lettuce and done flowers. No bees have moved in yet and the next toad house is on the list.

:joyfull: OK figment fan.....I just couldn't take it anymore and just splurged for shipping (do not tell DH), not from store as they are out and said they would get no more so wonder where it's coming from? Anyhow supposed to arrive within next 3 days. I had a bit of fun money and so going to try try try again, now I am only hoping it is same product from same vendor....but taking that risk.....:D. Will report if I am successful.....and it is supposed to go back up to the 90's but that is good it is in bags as I can move it quicker to another spot in the driveway until I finish it......

I only have flowers, no bitty ones even, maybe I need to look again......have you guys had rain beyond one day in past 4 weeks?

Oh and did Calvin and Hobbes get restored yet?!!
We’ve had rain, that’s why the tomatoes are thriving.
Calvin and Hobbes are on the “to do” list.
But I did buy 2 skunks at a flea market to add to the garden.
Pics to come soon.

Likewise I have settled on an idea for the next Toadhouse, this one will go in the vegetable garden (last one ended up in Mrs Willmark's flower beds in front).

Pics to come soon.
Looking forward to it.

The roses here are called “Cinnamon“ roses. I found these like 10 years AFTER I named my daughter Cinnamon Rose. Golden raspberries are next to them.

These are my 2 skunks. I found them at the Wilmot flea market in Wisconsin yesterday. They were hand made by a grandma and grandpa who were selling there. Only a $1 each! I wanted to by more of their stuff. Maybe in 2 weeks when I’m there selling again.F92AF8FE-7673-4332-B4CB-456AE7586A26.jpegBA997D3A-AE59-4C24-8254-2AA17BF86F6C.jpeg
If you look really close, you can see my 4 tiny tomatoes on the plant on the left.369AD0D1-F044-4A30-98E4-DE1CFCDA1B03.jpeg
These front, shorter tomatoes are called Japanese Trifele Tomatoes. They are my favorite. Thankfully they survived the frost over Mother day. They are hard to find.034A9A81-4415-474A-9B6E-A85116B24301.jpeg006E38C2-602F-4D5C-828A-7601EFC04A75.jpeg

I have carrots in the ground.
I buy shorter varieties.
Chicago has a lot of areas with clay in the ground, but I’m lucky to have pretty good soil.
I add sand to the areas that the carrots grow in.
I am lazy and do not thin them out, so when it’s time to harvest there are little carrots and big carrots.
But the carrots are sweet and tasty.
And as an added bonus, The Dutchess realized that Swallowtail butterflies lay their eggs on carrots, then we have caterpillars, then new butterflies!

That makes sense Ricky Spanish.....so I will not worry about them being spaced less, mine are colorful ones...and I know they take forever but they looked interesting to me to attempt! Wanted to utilize all the space! ;)

I hope you have better luck with the multi colored carrots. One year I planted two packs....got 6 carrots.

Oh yes I had forgotten that carrots are in same family as parsley and celery.....and snow on the mountain, which are all host plants for black swallowtails.....they were first pillars we raised.....but its good to let them eat your plants as long as you have enough to share....if you buy parsley to raise them with be sure its organic and well washed. Some of the chems they use to raise our veggies are lethal to especially monarchs....BT...? It does not harm us they say but I have seen it harm pillars. My favorites are monarchs and having raised 5 other pillars with my children, I found the monarchs to be my favorites.....pillars, and butterflies. But had to create a milkweed patch away from neighbors who treat lawn or spray stuff.....backyard neighbor swore she wouldn't spray as she saw that it killed the earthworms where she did, so I established a patch at back to find she went back to chems….and the rain washed it into the dirt and fed the roots of my plants and all our pillars died. Now I have a patch on side where my neighbor is a butterfly geek as well and its a happy place for my pillars!!!! No problems since. Black swallowtails though are best for children to raise, as they are not as susceptible nor picky on food source. 😎 Each butterfly has its own host plant(s).
