I heard that Spike Chunsoft (developer of the Mystery Dungeon and Dangonronpa series among others) recently opened an American office in California. Hopefully this means something is coming!

So even on Switch, 6 years after the original release, Skyrim is still very broken and buggy.

Despite previous thoughts of giving it a try due to how much I enjoyed Zelda I might give it a pass. I already have to deal with a very annoying audio bug in DOOM that I’m waiting for them to fix. I don’t think I could deal with some of the stuff described here like broken quests.

I guess I’m too used to games actually working for the most part *shrug*

On another note, is there anyone else here who played Persona 5?

I picked it up on a whim earlier this year because I was looking for a new JRPG to play, and boy was I blown away. The aesthetic is second to none, the soundtrack is one of the best I've heard, the gameplay is fast fun and fluid, and the story took me for a ride. I loved the game so much that I was very upset when I finished it. Now I'm trying to fill the void with Persona 4 Golden, but it's not nearly the same level. P5 has managed to sneak into my top 3 favorite games along with Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Sky and Pokémon Platinum.

And for reference my favorite Phantom Thief is Queen.

I’ve heard nothing but good things about it and have absolutely no idea what the deal is, lol. It must really be good as it has been consistently nominated for GOTY 2017.

I know I’m late with this but the big news from today concerns Mega Man. Not only was Mega Man 11 announced for all platforms, a Mega Man X collection was also announced as well as a Switch version of the previously released Legacy collections.

I’m sure many lost their minds today like I did back at E3 concerning Metroid

I never got into Megaman. I never understood the hype for it back in the day. Fun sure but it didn't wow me like other platformers.

I am not a gamer.. but I have a quick question for you guys-

XBox One or PS4?

Don’t know if it makes a difference, but with XBOX I would be getting Kinect... I don’t think the PS4 has a hands free equivalent.

Neither. Do some research on PC hardware, and build a decent gaming PC. :)

Sorry, can't help myself. Between the two, definitely PS4. Unless you're gung ho on a particular Xbox One exclusive (it doesn't have a lot of those), PS4 boasts more premiere exclusive games, like Naughty Dog's catalogue or Horizon Zero Dawn. I would say Kinect is not worth your time in any case, but PS4 does have the Playstation Move if that's really your thing. What kind of games do you like? Which controller do you prefer? Really, the decision depends on you.

Seriously, though, if you're leaning towards Xbox One, a dedicated gaming PC is worth looking into. I realize that it can be a commitment and totally understand if it's not for you, but it's worth at least thinking about. And I'm sure other people here would recommend a Switch.

Nintendo Switch :joyfull: lol jk

Between those two definitely PS4 unless you don’t care about exclusive games and just want the prettiest picture for multiplatform games in which case I’d say Xbox One X. Or research a PC like @Johnny Three-hats suggests.

With an app on the horizon that lets you stream PC games to Switch a Switch + PC combo gets you everything you could need barring Sony exclusives.

Ha, so I just returned home from a gaming store.. the sales guy there is telling me to buy the Switch. He said if not the Switch.. then the PS4 over Xbox one.. but he thinks I should go with the Switch.

I’m totally game system illiterate, unless we’re talking about the original Nintendo, or the Wii. I would have no clue how to build my own system.

I’m going to read reviews on the Switch tonight.. but here’s the 2 issues I found out at the store. No Madden. No MLB Baseball. That stinks, especially the Madden.

Do you guys see any downside to Switch?

If you need all those sports games then don’t get a Switch. EA has some weird thing with Nintendo lately since the Wii U and since they have the exclusive rights to Madden that means no football. Sony has an exclusive series of MLB games you might enjoy.

I don’t care much for sports myself.

Oh that’s good to know. Thanks! The guy at the store did a demo of some Arms game for me. I know my son would love it. They did have a baseball game, but only RBI.
My son’s request was a game system with Christiana Ronaldo FIFA Special Edition. (Which Switch does have), Madden, a Baseball game that you play without a controller, a “shooting game”, and Minecraft.
He already has Minecraft on his tablet, and he’s not old enough for the “shooting games”.
I didn’t want to get him another game system until he was 12 (we have a Wii now).. mainly because of the content of games and the worry of the “live” aspect. Unfortunately though, it’s the ONLY thing that he wrote on his letter to Santa, so I’m stuck.

Here’s the upsides I see to Switch (please correct me if I’m wrong)-
1. Better motion reliability than PS4.
2. Easier parental controls.
3. Mario games that he already enjoys.
4. Age appropriate game choices.
5. Comes with 2 controllers.
6. Only accessories I would need is the wheels for Mario Kart.

Here’s the downsides I see-
1. No Madden.
2. Left controller has some connectivity issues ( according to Game Stop sales guy, but he says an update should be coming)
3. Lack of preowned games available for sale.

Thoughts?

1. Pretty much a non-issue. EA is still testing out the waters for the Switch so it may come in the future. (Not that I would complain if EA didn't touch the console again
2. That was a rare issue and only occurred around launch. It's been fixed for a while
3. This is only because the system is so new

Thanks for the input! Given the choice, would you choose Nintendo over PS4 and just count on more sports games being released in a year or so?

The Switch also has an appropriate shooting game for your son in Splatoon 2.

I haven’t gotten into it but it’s gotten pretty popular so you could give it a shot. When you feel he’s more mature you can graduate him to DOOM which is what I’m currently playing :)

This is obviously fan made to celebrate the Switch version of the game but it gets the point across. It’s also frickin’ hilarious how it’s put to Mario music :hilarious:

I’m personally not interested in sports titles, but I do feel like more will be coming to the Switch as it picks up in popularity.

It really depends on the games you want to play. Each console has their own list of games can be played on their system and there system alone known as exclusives. If your "must have" games are exclusive to a particular console, then you have your answer.
