The Fountainview has a new purpose!

So, nobody knows what Fountainview was before Fountainview? And where exactly is it? Is it right outside of Spaceship Earth near the Communicore / Innoventions area?
Fountainview is a part of the Southern section of Innoventions West. As you go through the breezeway of West towards The Land, it's on the left, between you and Club Cool. I believe that it used to be called The Sunrise Terrace.

Sunrise Terrace was a much larger restaurant overall that also took up the space along the breezeway. It later became Fountain View and Pasta Piazza. The Pasta Piazza became Character Spot.

I am really glad to hear this!

One of my WDW Vacation Rules is to have an ice cream every day, every day in a different place, with at least one in each park that I visit. At Epcot, that meant no choice but something from a cart (not that there's anything wrong with that, after all, you can only get a Mickeyhead bar from a cart). It's nice that Epcot is "just as good" now, ice cream-wise, as MK and MGM!!

Ah, thanks for the information, WDW Monorail, Captain Hank and Merf. Now I know where is and what it used to be -- Sunrise Terrace.

I have not been to WDW since August 26, 1993. Yes, that's right -- 14 years. But I am finally going back in October, and I am going to have to rediscover all that is WDW all over again.

I have some catching up to do because I remember a different Epcot Center and all that. Just like with all of you on the board freaking out that the wand is down and SSE is returning to its normal state, it seems normal to me since I never visited WDW past late August 1993.

So, Tower of Terror, Rock n Roller Rollercoaster, Mission: Space, Animal Kingdom, the Boardwalk, Innoventions East and West, Soarin', Downtown Disney, etc., will all be quite new for me.

Until then I still have the memories of yesteryear.

Thanks again ...

Well, it had a few tables in the Breezeway...

Was it me or did Stargate always seem more popular? Perhaps since The Land was a stones throw away? There again, East also had The Odyssey....

Remember when there was this much choice?? I got all misty eyed and did a composite in the style of which I`m sure you are all bored of by now; follow me back to 1990: http://photoalbums.wdwmagic.com/showphoto.php?photo=28780&cat=500

Why didn't you go to the Land or WS to get ice cream?

The Land has hand-scooped ice cream, and there are a lot of options in the countries (my personal favorite being the Pistachio gelato in Italy). I can't believe you just got ice cream from a cart!

Does rice cream or a veiled maiden from Norway count? Also, ginger ice cream from China - though mass produced - is pretty nummy.

I'm pretty sure I have gotten ice cream in the Land before, but it was a loooong time ago, and we usually eat in the WS restaurants, so I guess I forgot it was there. :o

Ginger ice cream would definitely count, I just never knew it was there. I've been through the China pavilion several times but never saw it. Is it in the restaurant? We've never eaten there because of DH, world's pickiest eater (who doesn't even eat ice cream, btw).

I don't know if rice cream or gelato would count (they are my rules, after all, and they are completely subjective)--I'll have to think about it.

I was thinking along the lines of a true ice cream parlor, like Plaza Ice Cream at MK, and even Gertie the Dinosaur at MGM (there's that subjectivity thing), when I said that Epcot was "lacking" in the way of ice cream selections. Obviously, I didn't know how many other choices were there. This is a perfect example of how one can make many visits to WDW and not experience everything it has to offer, and explains why we must keep going back again and again...

I am very glad to see that something was done to the Fountainview. And as a huge fan of ice cream...I'm also glad to see it available in FW besides the cart(s) where I get my Mickey premium bars. :lookaroun

Did you really have to post that? Now we are going to have to put up with countless threads demanding the removal of the syrup dispenser to protect the architectual integrity of the original waffle. Even though I must admit that humanoid like hand is out of place in a Disney theme park!:D

What if it was Walt Disney's hand?? Or should we get a purple dragons hand doing it instead... lol

it is a good photoshop, and would be too expensive anyway for Disney to do it...

Then again... we would all be arguing about is the waffle a better icon than SE because it fits world showcase better than future world ;)
Not to mention, they might have a great area for breakfast located in the postshow ;)
