The Fountainview has a new purpose!

Its official. The Fountainview has been repurposed. Banners have gone up inside of the building advertising ice cream, and you can see that they have the waffle cones already setup, just by looking inside. It will be better to see the Fountainview used for something, but it is a shame- they had pretty good chocolate croisants... Anyone up for ice cream? :lookaroun

While I'm surprised at the loss of a breakfast spot, the continuous lines at ice cream parlors at WDW (something Epcot doesn't have that much of now) suggest this may be a good use.

I will have to agree that of all the possible choices that could have come to light for the re-puposing of Fountainview, I think making it into a ice cream joint is a decent idea. It will be popular, and till be a welcome stop for families to cool off.

I too will miss the chocolate croissants and cappuccinos... The Cafe shall be sorely missed. On the other hand, at least it's open, or soon will be once again.

I loved the iced coffee there. Oh and not to forget the fruit tulips.

Sure, you can get most if not all of the pastries they sold over at the land. But not the iced coffee. And the iced coffee sold elsewhere in the park just doesnt have the same taste.

It was just nice to grab some tasty yum yums and listen to Yanni while the fountain performed.

In recent years we have stopped by Fountain View for Breakfast every time we went to Epcot in the morning and it has been missed in recent months, I'm glad some use is going to be made of it but will miss the bakery.

I did my CP at Fountain View back in 2000. I can't tell you how many people would come in there looking for ice cream so this seems to be a great idea. If they still do coffee and a few bakery items to go along with the ice cream, it will be pretty sweet.

How long has the Fountain view been closed for? and do you think they will bring back coffe and pasteries in addition to delicious ice cream

I was wondering when you would make it here, Merf! I was waiting for the FountainView Events Space to be announced. :lol:

I think this is a good thing, although I wish they would have opened club cool up to the back hallway since that back area is really disjointed now.

You can get croissants (plain, chocolate, and ham and cheese :slurp: ) at the France pavilion, and I would guess you could get the cappuccino in WS too - maybe Italy? Plus lots of other yummy pastries and drinks, too...I love World Showcase...
