"The first thing I'm gonna do when Disneyland re-opens ....."

My first visit back after the closure will probably be like those visits I made in the 20th century before I had an AP.

I'll go quickly down Main Street (Main Street is for the evening shopping hour), and turn left into Adventureland. I would head first to Pirates, because that's the first ride I always went on. Then just start wandering around that western half; Haunted Mansion, maybe the Mark Twain, Big Thunder, Jungle Cruise, etc.

By afternoon I'm in Fantasyland and a trip on Small World is a must. Then Tomorrowland. Fried chicken dinner at the Plaza Inn. Then I'd like to visit Main Street for shopping. In the old days I'd go to the Emporium, but I have no need for souvenirs in my life now. Instead, I'd like to check in on the Disneyana shop and see what displays they have up and maybe find a little something to buy there. I would also like to see the Mr. Lincoln show again, before he's ripped down by a committee from HR.

Unlike the 20th century where you'd take a parking tram out to the Bambi section or something and then fight horrible traffic on Harbor getting away, I'll walk out through the Grand Californian and hail an Uber home. There are some things like that (an Uber from the Grand) where the 21st century is faster and easier and more gracious than the old days.
You wont stop by Star Wars Town to see the Falcon Ramp???

I don't know that I am going to go that far, but I was also thinking how much I miss those corn dogs. The Red Wagon will definitely be on my list, and might even replace the Plaza Inn for dinner.
Yeah, I might have to stop just short so I can fit in the toll house cookie sundae.

I personally wouldn't recommend a first timer to 'commado tour' Disneyland.
In fact, I highly discourage it.
Leave that craziness in WDW, where it belongs....

Remember kids -
It's not about how MUCH you can do in a day, it's all about throughly enjoying what you DO do during that day.
Quality over quantity.
Uncle Walt would agree!
:)

Disneyland should be enjoyed at a leisurely pace...not breakneck speed.

(Your milage may vary )

I agree with this in general. But if you’ll only ever go once and want to experience all the unique attractions in the resort, I think this is the way to go. I had a GREAT time, but I was exhausted at the end of 18 hours! 😂

Generally I prefer to head left through Adventureland and right into New Orleans Square, and depending on wait times pick a ride and then hop around that section of the park.

The two rides that I miss from Disneyland the most are Pirates of the Caribbean and Indiana Jones, so it will be one of the two (hopefully Indy is open!) As far as I know, Disney hadn’t started the ride’s planned refurbishment yet. I think they were staggering it and Snow White’s Scary Adventures refurb?

Soon after I will grab a churro from the very best location (outside of Haunted Mansion!), and then visit my favorite happy haunts. And I can’t leave NOS without grabbing a mint julep!

I will visit as many attractions as I can while trying to breathe and enjoy the day! Dinner will most likely have to be at Plaza Inn. I will thoroughly enjoy having that fried chicken with green beans, mashed potatoes and gravy! Will most likely get it with a big refreshing glass of grape juice.

When I go for multiple days, depending how long I'll be there I swap my first ride of the day. First ride first day is always POTC, but the next day typically I'll go Indy for my first ride on the second day. If I do stay a 3rd day then I like to rope drop RSR, those are usually my 3 first rides. Sometimes my friends or family will swap out RSR for Space Mountain but I don't care about rope dropping that ride since I like to end the day / trip with it. I don't know why but there's something about the ambiance of Adventureland in the morning that I love. I usually go during summer so it's cooler, the crowds are generally calmer, and I feel like I'm taking a relaxing stroll through a jungle outpost.

As for snacks I would definitely go for some classic snacks: a churro, a Dole Whip, and some popcorn. My next trip is going to be with my girlfriend and she has been dying to try the turkey legs (I've had them before, they're delicious but there's so much meat it's hard to finish on my own) so I'm sure we will end up splitting one either as a "snack" or maybe for lunch.

One more thing I would like to do on my next trip is enjoy the entertainment side of things, but nobody knows how long it will take for that sort of stuff to return, sadly. I don't always soak up the parades / spectaculars, I haven't seen Fantasmic in years but I saw World of Color 3 years ago and loved it, and would love to show my girlfriend as she hasn't seen it before. But yeah, I honestly think for those reasons I'm going to hold off on any trips until there is a good portion of entertainment options available, it's a 6-7 hour drive from my house to DLR and I have to pay for a hotel for the trip so it's a genuine vacation, so I'm going to wait to spend all that time and effort until I can get as much out of the trip as possible.

EDIT: I just remembered my girlfriend has a tradition of doing Haunted Mansion first on her trips, it's her absolute favorite ride. I've definitely given her a couple HM themed gifts over the past few years. I'm gonna have to figure out what we'll do about this predicament... I think I'd be fine riding HM first as long as POTC is right after that...

Uh oh, are we going to revive the Disneyland gang wars again....

I'll be bigger than Biggie v Tupac.

Oh no no no no....
I'm not referring to those 'Disneyland Gangs' .....
I was referring to the 'Westside' of the Park.
Literally, the 'West side'.....where all the best lands and Attractions are.
Well, except maybe 'Galaxy's Edge' for some...
;)

Adventureland!
New Orleans Square!
Frontierland!
Critter Country!
Rivers of America!
And that 'Galaxy's wEdge' area....

The West side of Disneyland Park has a lot of the hardcore classics and some of the best Attractions and experiences-

'Indiana Jones Adventure'!
'Pirates of the Caribbean'!
'Big Thunder Mountain Railroad'!
'The Haunted Mansion'!
'Splash Mountain'!
'Jungle Cruise!'
'The Enchanted Tiki Room'!
Mark Twain Riverboat / Columbia /
Davy Crocket Explorer Canoes!
Rivers of America!
'Tarzan's Treehouse'!
Oh yeah, and that 'Galaxy's Edge' thingy out back.......

And best of all -
It's where you can get 'Dole Whip Floats'....!!
And beignets!
And delights aplenty at Club 33!
Yes!

Westside.
Basically, everything cool in the Park.
Well, except maybe 'Winnie the Pooh'....but I digress.
West side is the best side!

Fantasyland is beautiful and kinda in its own magical place, centered between the two 'sides'.
So it is like a happy 'extension' of the awesomeness of the West side.

The East Side ....well, we won't talk about Tomorrowland on the 'East side' at all.
Yeah....not right now.
Sorry 'Space Mountain' and 'Submarine Voyage'.....I really do love you both ( minus cartoon Pixar fish ) but....

West side is the best side for this dragon.
:)

West Side Disneyland is pretty amazing- and I'm sad I couldn't have experienced it in '95.

-Indiana Jones just opened, and had more effects operating then in any other point of its history
-Tiki Room wasn't shortened yet
-Pirates and Mansion hadn't undergone any of their changes
-Swiss Family Treehouse
-Splash Mountain was only 6 years old, and still functional.
-Fantasmic! was present
-Keel Boats were still around
-Country Bears was still going, even if it was the Vacation version.
-More unique shops in NOS including the One of a Kind shop
-Tom Sawyer's Island still had the Fort open, as well as the treehouse.

Sure, many of these attractions have LED lighting now, and remastered audio with better speakers- but as a whole, there's a lot to miss about the old West Side. You also had the best two attractions from the first gen of Imagineering, as well as the best two second gen attractions. None of which having the show issues and alterations that plague them today.
