The fate of "Journey Into Imagination"?

There is surprisingly not a lot of space upstairs.
You know...I was going to say that, but my memory is starting to get faulty at best. I thought it wasn't huge or if it was, there wasn't that much in it really that a family could do. Kids, yes, but grown-ups would have been relegated to sitting on a bench and eating peanuts. Cept they didn't have benches.:)

I hadn't heard of a refurb coming, that is good news!

I hope they can find a way to build some universal access to the second floor, they need to spruce and re-open that!

Yeah... I never rode the original, and never knew there was an original the first time I rode it in it's current state. I still thought 'what the heck was that all about?' . It just makes no sense. It's a ride for kids, and even then I imagine they are pretty bored.
All the CM's looked bored. One of them had a lab coat on that was obviously about 6 sizes too big for him. It's like they don't even care what the CM's look like. Plus it had a '20' minute wait time listed. I thought, well, that's a lie!

Now I've seen videos of the original, and videos and pictures of the old second floor, I agree they need to do something similar to this. That pavillion is a massive amount of wasted space. They also need to clean the darn windows! It's filthy.

Here's hoping this refurb is worth it, and they don't just reopen it as it is.

Plus, I'm sorry, Eric Idle is a national treasure and being from the UK, I'm glad he's in this and was in HISTA, but he needs to go. His 'moon face' is just cringeworthy at the end! Infact, while they're at it, they should evict Judy Dench too! Thank the Venetians eh?!

The day Phineas and Ferb (FYI it's never going to happen) makes its way into JII is the day I never step foot into that pavilion. Sorry, but I'm 100% sure the craze will die down with the rest of Disney channel. Disney would be wise not to stoop so low
My 18 month old Granddaughter will sit for hours watching Phineas and Ferb. I don't think that she understand a quarter of what is being said, but she seems mesmorized. Because of that I was pulled into watching it with her and, to my surprise, I found it quite funny and well done. In the meantime, might I ask, where's Perry?

I use to love the newer version of Imagination when I was younger. Now I ride it to purely annoy my family. Watching videos and looking up the original version..... Holy Figment do I want to ride that ride! It seems so much more in depth and friendly! Why... why did it go? I would have loved that ride 100x more than I loved the newer one as a kid! Now I know why Figment's so popular on this site. It wasn't for the current annoying figment, it was for the fun loving original! Wow, Disney sure did mess this ride up! Now I think that should make it "your ride" you design and you build it. Not like the coaster engineer at Innovations but more like where kids can design what the scenery will be, what's the character going to be and look like, what route will you take, etc. it may involve some screens, but I can see it being cute and cool.

I'm really surprised that it hasn't come up yet, but the original Journey Into Imagination was a near disaster from a technological stand point. The "Flight of Imagination" scene near the beginning of the ride never worked right. It actually caused the ride to be delayed for 5 months, not opening until March of 1983. The cars had problems locking into the turntable that would rotate them around. Also there were issues with the cars in terms of getting them to speed up and slow down on their own. They never could get it to work regularly and it is the main reason why the ride was shortened in 1998. That still doesn't mean that couldn't have come up with a better show product then they have now. Hopefully the rumored rehab is true and that they bring the ride back to at least a close version of original. The idea of adding in elements from Mystic Manor would be an excellent start. Also a new sponsor like Apple would be useful.

Isn't Mystic Manor a theme like our Haunted Mansion?

Not quite. The Chinese are a bit different about the subject of death than we are, and to have a house full of ghosts would be completely tasteless to them.

So Disney turned it around...it's still a creepy old house, but instead of 999 Happy Haunts, we get a "Ripley's Believe it or Not!" style museum, where all of the artifacts come to life when the curator's pet monkey opens Pandora's Box. It's an amazing attraction in its own right...especially since it's scored by Danny Elfman.

Is their anyone who believes that this refurbishment will happen and Dreamfinder and some original features will come back. I have a feeling if so instead of the turntable they will set his intro scene where the screens are and they're will be a stop.
